Does NNPC have any bias against Bankers (Ex or Current)?

During my interview, in the course of answering one of the situational questions, I used a scenario when I was still in the Bank, suddenly, they all exclaimed, "you've worked in the Bank!!"........ I was so shocked and scared, thought of withdrawing the statement, but I said that was many years ago.

I commented about them staying late to finish the interview that it is surprising. The room that was silent suddenly lit up, almost every of the wanted to talk... One man said "you Bankers think you are the only one working ". I sha tried my best to convince them that I don't want to be redundant, that I want to work for my money. They said I have nothing to fear that nnpc isn't a Civil service but Public service.

smiley smileyWow! I came online tonight and was pleased to see that there were no BP-oscillating theories. I guess the photo I shared earlier probably inspired us to worry not.

With your permission, your potential NNPC GT Geologist would love to share his own experience. wink (Read & be inspired)

N/B Watch Out for the theme Honesty & Trust in God oya here we go wink

I think I was one of last persons to apply on the portal because that 'port ' really stressed me until a faithful day when my edited selfie was successfully ed and hit 'Apply.

I studied Dragnet plus nnpc study pack and was tired especially when I heard the number of candidates who applied sad . It became worse when I was 'cramin' current affairs. I prayed to God to take away spirit of error during the test and so it was that after answering question 60, i went thru again backwards and corrected about 15qstns I initially thought I got correctly. smiley

Interview Day
Outspoken guy like me found myself so tensed up inside, calm outwardly but shaking inside. I read a scripture that morning (Luk.12:12) and believed it. (Do not worry about what to say , for in that Hour , the Holy spirit will teach you what to say).

Interview: 8th, Room 25, 22 10th floor.

I was the first on the list and the other colleagues were mostly engineers. While we settled down on the seat in front of the room, our usher had gone in to submit our files...I could feel the drilling a guy sad I became tensed again lol. Ffw

The secretary came out to ease our tensions while the guy who was being drilled was sweating and preparing to leave. After Her briefing, she beckoned on me to follow her inside (as first man undecided lipsrsealed).

Then I met what I would describe as the best anyone would have prayed to meet with. smiley 5 Senior men( 2yorubas, 1Northern, 1Ijaw & 1Igbo(chairmo) , the sec.was the only female (Yoruba). The chairman asked me to drop my files and unbutton my suit jacket to ease off all tensions. I did that smiling.

They introduced themselves and asked that I do same. While I was at it, the Chairman & a few others probed to know my part of Abia state.. teased me, 'yabbed' me, we laughed for a while..and then He asked the Geologist to pause while the safety start with me.

*What is an unsafe act. (I answered).
Mention 5(strictly 5) unsafe acts on the highway. (I mentioned 3, they waited...I mentioned 2 more (In my mind: so una no fit forget the 2 for me? cry grin)

*Geology. What is Migration( I answered). Mention the types of Migration (I answered and defined them).

Why do reservoir rocks hold HC? (Me: smileydue to their good porosity & perm. Chairman & Geologist: yeah we know...but...(I payed attention to their body languages) then I said due to The presence of Traps... everyone was happy in the room, including the sec. smiley)

*Personals.
Tell us a time when you had a set back in life.(I thought hard and answered)

*Tell us of a time when you managed a situation under pressure. (Wait for it!)

Me: I described a situation Where I led a team to rep ma department/sch in a competition at Ilorin under a short notice. We stayed up all night to study & rehearse for the presentation. Then I quickly added: We didn't win the competition but we were happy we did well & our lecturers were proud of us.

The Humbling part: The Geologist said to me, "You're correct. Do you know I was present there at Ilorin (2016). Me shocked shocked shocked "what if I had lied that my team won".

Ffw: I got a chance to ask a question. I asked what NNPC was doing to cut down CO2 emissions during E&P. The northern ist explained in details.

The Chairman teased me further, bout my people, their doings...we laughed for a while more. Then I was free to go.

The sec. gave me my phone and smiled at me. I left the room knowing God was truly on my matter.

I'd be delighted to connect with lots of you guys come September . Cheers.

Wow.. we had similar experience. same , A geologist too And from Abia state. the chief ist made fun of my Lga too..They were nice

See you at the towers bro.

My interview experience was quite interesting, I wanted to be noticed by anyone interviewing me, so I mentioned in my CV how the company I work for (a Tax investigation Firm) recovered unpaid Taxes (hundreds of millions of $) for the FGN from oil servicing and man-power companies in the oil and gas industry :

6 of us were called from the theater, the secretary or HR rep was a beautiful lady, she asked for our CV’s and left. Minutes later she came back and asked “who is ….” I answered, she smiled and said “in your CV, you said you like meeting people, is that true?” LOL I was shocked, I couldn’t writing that because I wrote some portions years ago, whenever I updated it, I never bothered about those parts, she noticed I was contemplating and said “ I hope you did all those things you mentioned in your CV” and left. Sharply, I started browsing my CV and memorizing the parts I never bothered myself with while two guys were ushered in before me.

I greeted all the ist and was asked to take a seat, the chief ist introduced everyone to me and asked me the almighty question TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF. I explained in details my job position, what my company does and kept linking my experience with what NNPC required in their key competencies. I spent close to 5 minutes explaining all these. They asked the software’s we use, how we protect our data, how many projects we were currently working on etc. I was asked IT questions such as what is malware, software bug, programming, how many languages can I program in, what programming project have I worked on, name the 7 layers of the OSI Model which I couldn’t but they shrugged it off by saying with all these years as an analyst you wont much about networking.

The HSE question caught me off guard, I was asked to explain how my office practices safety, LOL, lord knows we don’t do nothing on safety in my company, luckily, I was able to use their office as reference, I talked about office light to be easy on the eye, well leveled tables and chairs for comfort, tried to stop there but they kept pressing for more, so I ed the TV in the theater and explained how we are being told in my office to exit via the stairs instead of the lift in case of fire and also taught how to use the fire extinguisher, sharply one of them just asked if I can teach them too, lol I just told them that I don’t listen to the explanation much because I pray to God never to experience fire outbreak, they all laughed and felt satisfied with my answer.

I was also asked to explain a difficult situation I faced, told them about a client that needed an arduous job done in 3 days and how I met the deadline by using extra man hours and delegating other team and mentioning their skills used in accomplishing the task. The chairman decided to give me a nick name “The Data Man”, I was smiling but deep inside, I was like “I hope say no be washing be this”. Then they said I can ask a question, I inquired what was the next stage, they said the interview was the final but medicals was needed to know if fit for NNPC and security check will be done to know if you’re a yahoo boy…lol I raised my hand up and said “sir, I have never stolen in my life (inside me, I stealing meat from kitchen sha lol)” they all laughed and kept saying “the data man”, they thanked me and told me that was all, I thanked them also and left.

The secretary saw me out and silently told me “you did well”, I thanked her too and she went back in. I shook everyone waiting for their interview wished them good luck and left.

Finally, my favorite saying “Life is hard, but it’s harder if you’re stupid”, I do wish to work in NNPC but if in the end I do not get it, I move on. As a matter of fact, I am working on a personal website project which involves publicity, currently 90% done, I will drop the link here soon for anyone who wishes to and its free.

Since today is set aside for our CBT and Inteview
experiences, let me also share mine,

I got the information about the recruitment from elder brother and hearing from friends and also from social media.

I proceeded to ed but along the line I nearly gave off bcus of the problem of ing port, I had to leave the site for almost 2weeks .

I ed as a GT, studied Quantity Surveying and from Benue State

Fortunately after every said and done I was able to ed.

Invited for the CBT, in Abj at Emirates International College by 9am.

Mehn u need to see forming that day, when some of us r managing our National ID , some persons r purposely flaunting the International port for all to see.

Las las we wrote the CBT, personally for me after the test there is this assurance and confidence I got that am gonna make it.

Fast forward I got invited for the Oral Interview at the Tower specifically on the 1st of July being on Monday,.

Based in Abj around Mararaba/Nyanya axis I left home as Early as to 6am, got to Tower around after 6am.

We were ushered in from one room to another then finally to the conference room, where we did our documents verification and finally gave ur our room number, was placed for 39.

Finally at 39, the first 6 were ushered , I was the last person, then discovered most of us are either Quantity Surveying, Micro Biology and Biochemistry.

The girl that went in came out shaking, and was like she was asked what she never expected, that wat is air pollution and types.

As a sharp Benue boy I sharply brought out my phone and Google it cus I don't wanna b taken on aware too o

When it got to my turn after asking me to introduced myself gbam here comes the question on Air pollution and it types

Was also asked some safely questions about what r the safety measure I why travelling either with public or private car

Also to tell them about an instance as a Quantity Surveyor where I have used my Analytical skill to solve a problem.

Lastly asked if I have any question, I commended the transparency of the whole exercise and thank them

After then it was all jokes aboute going back home.

Afterwards went to the security post down stairs dropped my details and zoom off

Also have the conviction like that during the CBT that it will b a success by God's grace.

Up till now ALERT never show sha.

I have actually been monitoring this thread since and i must confess, i've had a good laugh.
The most important thing is that i believe by God's grace i am highly favoured and my name is already among the 1000 GTs to be chosen.
I had my interview on July 9th. I can't the but i was the 2nd to last person to be interviewed for the day.
1st question was about DCM. I was my first time hearing about it. I studied industrial Chemistry.
One of the gave me the meaning and the chemist in me sprung up. I used idea to talk about the need to reduce the emission of toxic gases in the environment. Next question was why does NNPC need CDM? I didn't grab where he was going but he guided me till i said to maximize profit. He gave me a thumbs up at this stage.
Next question was by another man who asked me to describe a situation where i was frustrated while in charge of a group and what i did.
I quickly brought forth a certain story about being put as head of a group project and having a stubborn member. It was a good story and i was giving a thumbs up. It was a good story and for a moment i considered a career as a story writer. Nothing like that ever happened sha.
Next i was given another situational question and i concorted another wonderful story.
Finally i was asked for 5 safety rules when driving a car on a rainy day. I could only list 4. That was when God came for me. The chairman of the gave me one idea about one more and told the people that I've listed 5.
I believe once again that God's favour will speak for me and even if 10 GTs are needed , i am one of them.
Don't attack me for saying this. It is not your belief. You are free to believe yours too.
