"Obafemi Awolowo University massacre: ing my friend, inimitable George Iwilade, the Secretary-General of the SUG of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

On July 10th, 1999, Comrade Iwilade popularly known as “Afrika” was brutally murdered by cult gangs sponsored by the university authorities. Afrika and I engaged in a series of struggle before I left Nigeria in February 1999.

This photo was taken when we staged a rally at Yaba, Lagos condemning the persecution of OAU students. Afrika, Lanre Adeleke “Legacy” and my humble self unfurled a giant banner within a massive police cordon.
