Another final year student of University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN has reportedly committed suicide by taking sniper, few weeks after Chukwuemeka Akachi, a 400-level student of Department of English and Literary Studies in UNN ended his own life after taking a bottle of sniper.

Kate Elias, mother of the final year student of UNN who committed suicide told NAN that the incident happened on Monday June 17, around 5.30pm in her house at Justina Eze Street, Nsukka. Kate who works with the university, said she came home on the day of the incident and day and found her son in a bad mood as he was staggering when he came to collect a bottle of coke from the fridge.

“I followed him immediately to his room and started talking to him but he could not respond and when I looked closely, I discovered that his teeth had tightened up,” she said. “As I looked around, I saw an empty sniper bottle; at this point I raised alarm and my other children rushed to the room and we tried to give him red oil but his tightened teeth did not allow the oil to enter his mouth.

“We immediately rushed him to Faith Foundation Hospital, Nsukka and were later referred to Bishop Shanahan Hospital, Nsukka, where he eventually died.”

God bless the NAFDAC officials that finally chose to Ban Sniper.
Using sniper even in the home is not safe except after 2 days after it has fully evaporated.
This insecticide should be used for farms or places with serious pest issues.
For those who think banning sniper was stupid, think for yourself alone. You don't know if the next worried person in your family will consider using it.
I think this thing is like a spirit that pushes people to consume it. The last time I was depressed about money and I saw sniper I hid it ontop of the shelf so I never see it again.

Most people are seeking opportunity to end their life. So, any little challenge seem to be an answered prayer.

Nigerian universities are a perfect recipe for suicide...they breed frustration in ways that prove experience is not necessarily the best teacher. From the weird rigorous registration to the terrible lecture theatres n the crowning glory- the sadistic lecturers who take out their frustrations on the young. We have to overhaul the system but if u have the means, be like Buhari - school your kids abroad.

So, sniper is the only pesticide brand in the market?, NAFDAC can as well ban ropes and all other accessory materials that has been used in committing suicide and they can also close down water bodies. Concerning sniper not being safe in the house, that's a big NO, any strong pesticide of such dose should be well diluted with kerosene or water before use so as to reduce the toxic effect if mistakingly ingested. The government should be looking for means to solve depression like making the school's counselling unit more appealing to students and PEOPLE SHOULD BR NICE TO ONE ANOTHER.
NB- EVERY SUBSTANCE IS POISONOUS IT'S JUST THE DOSE THAT DETERMINES THE POISON, even SUGAR is POISONOUS but at a VERY HIGH DOSE.

Rather than KILLING yourselves, lead a PROTEST. Use yourselves as SPECIMEN...
