The attention of the Enugu State Government has been drawn to the wanton dismantling of its steel road barrier erected at Ikem-Obollo Eke junction, in Ogor Community, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, by some youths in the area. The road barrier was duly erected by the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, to restrict articulated vehicles from plying the Ugwogo Nike-Ikem road, to safeguard the infrastructure and lives of the road s. The state government, therefore, strongly condemns the uncivilized act of the perpetrators, which is at variance with the commitment of the present istration to provide quality infrastructure for the good people of Enugu State and protect them accordingly for the desired service. Consequently, we ask those involved in the dismantling to re-install the barrier immediately or be ready to face the consequences of such unlawful act. In view of the above, the government wishes to call on the security agencies to take adequate steps to ensure that its facilities are protected at all times. IGNORANCE! . I guess they do not know the meaning of such barriers, which includes 1. To prevent heavy duty trucks from plying the road that is not meant for them. 2. To protect life's and properties, etc 37 Likes 2 Shares |

DonGtoG1: Good analysis . They will want to claim that 1- the route available to trucks and articulated vehicles is too far off from town 2- that such prohibited vehicles are needed to bring goods to their doorsteps and shops. 19 Likes 1 Share |

The barrier is actually meant for good but what if that's the only road accessible to the village? Some times our contractors do bad job, they then apply barriers to save the road for the time bn....i expected to see alternative routes in the publication made by the said Government so as to convince and convey their motive properly ...

Some people who do not know anything will just jump into the comments section and be letting the latrine open. What worthes doing at all, worthes doing very well. As someone said above, some contractors who actually know that the project they executed can not stand the test of time, hence they put such barriers. Again, there was a time a certain construction company constructed a Bridge at Slaughter in Trans Amadi Portharcourt, there was such barrier so as to prevent heavy duty from plying the Bridge, the barrier was killing people time after time, some one might be on an open vehicle like Hilux, the vehicle being on a speed lane, as it gets to the Bridge, the person or persons sitting on the back of the Hilux, before you know what's on, the bar has cut his or her head. 7 Likes |
