Mikel is the cord that holds Nigeria's Midfield.

His composure,experience, positional discipline, crisp es,creativity and hold up play will come handy in the Afcon.

For now,we need him badly in the Team.

The likes of Nwakali have a long way to go.

Unknown to you the same Afonja Segun recommended Kanu Nwakwo to U17 when there was a complain of him being light weight.

Mikel is still very needed. Our midfield still lack cohesion and Mikel is still d only one we can look up to for now. Rohr can take d nwakali brothers as a backup though but Mikel is a must in Egypt.

Why should Mikel be included in the team? Is it that he's only good for competitions and while others for just qualifiers? For me, Mikel should justify why he should be in the team for this AFCON.

OGA that will be dangerous for our team ooo that midfield is still lacking,u are just saying this because we are yet to meet strong rival. Competition is different from friendly match,we need Mikel now than before pls dont dare we need him at least to start the match.

What creativity has Mikel brought to the team after all these years. Mikel is a solid dm no doubt but right now Ndidi is better than him in that position on current form. We have tried to use Mikel as our number 10 for several years but it never just clicked. Even in Russia Rohr attempted to play him in that role against Croatia and it backfired.
Mikel is a terrific er of the ball but at thesame time very slow and not having the level of sharpness required of a playmaker.let him watch the afcon from home this time. It's time to try fresh legs. The combination of Iwobi, Karo and Ndidi is not bad if you ask me.
