1. Malawi

With a GDP per capita of $226 Malawi stands as the poorest nation in Africa.

Poverty in Malawi is extensive and deepening with life expectancy for Malawians now stands at 63.7 from the previous 63.8 mark, a latest United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Human Development Index (HDI) report has revealed.

2. Central African Republic

10. Guinea

From your comment you've never been to the north.

Perhaps you are generalizing because of those cobbler Mallams and beggers you see on the southern streets begging for alms. That alone would not give the true picture of northern Nigeria.

Places like

Kaduna
Kano
Gombe
Yola
Bauchi
Jos
Mina etc are far better than some of the southern states I've been to.

Even Maiduguri is ahead of some southern states. Forget about what media have been feeding you with. Maiduguri is a beautiful city in spite the insurgency.

If Nigeria is not careful we just may find ourselve on that list in few years . Niger republic is on that list and Mr Buhari has been seen lately associating with Niger governors, learning how to take Nigeria to that next level.
