British left us with London college of Engineering & Architecture - that later became University of Nairobi - and we had very good architects and engineer as early 1970s. Most of other African countries were left with Arts or Business schools.

Kenya indeed had a settler white community - but whatever advantage they had put in places - was eliminated in disastrous mau mau war of 1950s and they all left in a drove before 1960s. They had settled in tiny strip of kenya - called the white highlands - but in rest of kenya - they never as much set foot.

Now talk about Nigeria - or Ghana - British explored for OIl/GOLD and left when it was just about to go production. Who really got a fair deal?. The guys who had to pay the British to leave or the guy who was handed OIL - and all you've done is SQUANDERED 600B dollars.
