I had my first experience driving in a snow storm about 2 weeks ago when there was a snow warning issued for the GTA.
It was a horrible experience. Your brakes might as well not be on the car. Braking became a skill to stop at an intersection. Plus i followed waze app to divert me from traffic on the highway and ended up taking back roads which was a bad idea. Lesson learnt. Always stay on the high way because the snow gets cleared faster and atleast you have the company of other cars in case of emergencies.
Also whats the deal with using full beam headlights during snowny weather? Firstly visibility is poor but going on full beam causes some kind of optical illusion, the falling snow just gets brighter and doesnt add to visibility distance.

Can people share personal experience and safety tips considering winter hasn't officially started.

Other than winter tires which offers some grip during wintery conditions, what else can one do just to be safe.

That drive made me miss driving Benin-Warri road.

Hi,
This is what I have.

Rates to Edmonton:
100kg - 399kg = 1250

400kg and above = 1150

The higher the cheaper
Advise on how u pack your things: 1. Bring your things in just a simple Ghana must go bag.....no special bag is required.
2. if you have Red oil, Honey, Iru put, them in a 10L keg separately or lesser keg or Bottle water as d case may be.
3. Ogi starch water should be drained fully and put it in a nylon bag or transparent zip nylon double it.
4.feel free to ask questions...... Am here to serve u better

To me for the guys number, send a mail to [email protected].
I have been unable to reply to Nairaland PM requests.

Guitarlife:

Please we need information about how much it cost and the of the agency or their name. I have shared this before. I would share again.
In wintery road driving and conditions, a car with headlights on is easier to spot than one with no headlights.
There are also provincial government websites that reports condition of roads. E.g Some portion of highway one in Saskatchewan was closed off today due to pure ice on the road.

hotline.gov.sk.ca/map

There are akso several facebook groups that report highway conditions.

You can buy studded winter tires too instead of the regular winter tires. Buy a car with AWD. You can subscribe to car break down cover if you have a wife/female driver,

You can also keep a bag of road salt, jumper cables, or portable powerbank/charger jump starter like energizer or noco brands, portable shovel and brush/scaper in your car. The last two are important.

Okay, Gatineau-Quebec and Ottawa are separated by a road. What if you elect Gatineau as a place of residence?
