The Federal Government of Nigeria has signed an MOU with Europe's largest automotive manufacturer, Volkswagen, to produce a number of its vehicles in the country.

This was part of the events during the visit by the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, to Nigeria on the 31st of August, 2018.

The Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okey Okechukwu Enelamah, signed on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, and Thomas Schaefer, CEO and Chairman of Volkswagen's Africa operations signed on behalf of Volkswagen.

Thomas Schaefer and Volkswagen have been working with the DG of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, Jelani Aliyu, and the agency towards the company's entry into Nigeria and the setting up of local production.

Early July this year, the National Automotive Design and Development Council and the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment had hosted Volkswagen and other global OEMs in Abuja.

Aliyu mentioned, "This MOU with Volkswagen is a progressive development as a result of that earlier engagement, and we are particularly excited because the company is very committed to new applicable technology and the local production of modern, safe and energy efficient vehicles which would be optimized for our environment."

"With Volkswagen, we have a strong stakeholder who understands the huge potential in the Nigerian market, and we are a perfect match to the company's efforts towards innovative mobility services which would both compliment and boost our economic structure."

Volkswagen has recently started vehicle production in the East African country of Rwanda this year.

Nigeria provides an even larger market, both within the country and as a gateway to the West African region.

Nigeria, sign MoU on

Saraki and co should be agitating for third term in office of the president for Buhari instead of running up and down like headless chicken.

Good.

Despite the too many evil people in the country.

Nigeria will return to it's former glory, then thereafter she will be restructured in peace.

President Buhari's diversification initiative is working.

I could how America's economy gained explosive turnaround. It was through strengthening the auto companies. The same still work today.

More interesting is the continuous effort of this government to break our reliance on crude oil and set a structure for another source of revenue for the nation.

Hence the introduction of the adoption of agricultural sector as a major focus of the diversification agenda.

The combination of Autos and the Agricultural sectors will give a huge boost to the Nigerian economy and stand as a lasting alternative to the oil spell.

The problem of many Nigerians is the quest for instant gratification, we want it suddenly except for those that has chosen to just hate the government because their clueless leader has been honorably silenced.

Whether you can see or not, this government is working for now and the future of this country.

Which yeye Innoson?

How many SE Governors use Innoson vehicles?
How many Innoson vehicles are in Ekweremandu's convoy?

Say the truth. Would you agree to sit in an Innoson vehicle speeding at 130km/ph?

There is a reason why SE Governors refuse using Innoson vehicles even if they won't tell you.

Volkswagen was in Lagos but packed up. It is not about g MoUs but creating the enabling environment, generating adequate power (which is the lifeblood of industries), political stability, economic turnarounds and so on.

I can imagine what Innoson and co are suffering due to inadequacies of the government

Some of you have determined not to see anything good about this government.

Few years ago when GEJ was g MOU with foreign car makers, people like you were hailing him as transforming the automobile sector.

But when Buhari did the same thing, you suddenly ed there is one Innosson somewhere. You are pathetic!

By the way, does any of your immediate family member own an Innosson vehicle?
