A man has been allegedly killed by police officers at a checkpoint on his way to Zamfara state. According to Hassan Sidi, the man was driving a hilux van conveying rice when he approached customs officials at a checkpoint who allegedly requested a bribe from him.

According to information gathered, the driver and father of three children offered to give the customs agents N1000 but they declined and asked him to add extra N500. He reportedly ignored them and drove away.

The customs officials were said to have notified the police who were some meters away that a criminal with a stolen vehicle was approaching them.

On sighting the said vehicle, the police operatives at their checkpoint opened fire on him. He reportedly lost control and crashed the vehicle as he came out alive to explain he's not a thief.

The policemen were said to have shot at him again - killing him in the process.

Honestly I had similar experience like this on my way from Lagos last year when I traveled to buy my car. The duty of my car is paid and they saw it yet they want to collect 10k from me so I refused, just before Ore na police stopped us almost shooting at us only for us to rub mind with them and they told us custom people we ed notify them our car is a stolen car. If not for God wey man dey serve we ready reverse back and go deal with those custom people. This country is indeed a sh1thole

It's high time every military, police, and other para-military force are forced to wear audio and video hardwares on their uniform/work clothes when ever they are on duty.... If this is implemented, after 1 month, half of the entire military, police, and para-military force member will end up in jail because there will be enough evidence to curb their excesses...and if any officer refuses to wear his (either feigning ignorance or absent mindedness), he'll be made to face the law too...

The year has not even gone anywhere and over 300nigerians have been killed across the country over nonsense trivial issues...
