And being the president of Nigeria (which is also very symbolic to his moslem brothers), his daughter could've had no problem wearing the islamic symbol on an occasion like this. More so if she couldn't do without it. But she chose to abide by the rule.

What you don't know is that Islamic scholars all agreed that there is no where in the Quran that wearing of hijab was ever instructed.
