Meanwhile, please, I want to ask. What is the land preparation like? After clearing, what next? In short, what are the steps to be taken?

Thanks for this info. Like how many times would you harvest from a tree in a year. |

Good day everyone. So I started clearing a family plantation of 700 trees. It hasn't been maintained or cared for in a long time. It will take about 3 weeks at least to complete the clearing and trimming the fronds on the trees. I also have to uproot dead trees (7) and transplants some young ones growing spuriously around the farm then apply fertilizer as we see fit. I plan to process and have started the construction of small/medium scale equipment. Our present predicament now is bush fires, everyone around us suddenly feels the need burn something. I've heard the best way to curtail them is to keep the farm cleared which we are doing now. I'll appreciate any advise on other methods of curtailing bush fires. I'll continue to share my experiences here and will soon come up with costs at start up. Thank you

Hi all, Very informative thread. I am looking at the possibility of constructing a dwarf wall with wood and possibly barb wire nothing not possibly taller than 1-1.2 metres. See similar pictures below. The farm size is 24 arces and this is mainly to prevent bush burning, encroachment and prevent cattle grazing. If anyone has a better cost effective method of achieving this then please let me know.

Am really deligted to stumble on a post like this here. Well, for some of us who don't have the capital to engage in farming palm fruit, I believe there are other areas in the value chain that can equally interest investors. Am particularly interested in buying and supplying processed oil. I will appreciate any contribution to the point I raised |

felixzo1:Good one, I am indeed very happy to see that you have nurtured it to this stage. We are gradually following your footsteps. Nevertheless, don't you think some part of the plantation need some weeding. Meanwhile, I am still in the nursery stage (7 months old now) and hope to move them to the farm when the rain starts fully. |

asiwaju4now:Seeing a kind of waste of resources and sort of extortion by "somebody" all because you're a naïve. What is the motive behind "designer" pegs and "celebrated" netting. Not condemning your consultant here but there are some "majoring on minors" in this quotes. Wishing you best in your endeavor. 1 Like |
