Unfortunately, I couldn't find a material to detail the Month by Month inflation rate as at 1985. However, we have to note that GMB was in Power for 8months during that 1985, while IBB was in government for 4 Months.
Analyse IBB's economic programs and that of GMB's economic programs. Even his concept was termed Buharinomic by expÉrts. It will amount to Ínjustice to attribute the 1985 success to IBB.
Anything could have happened within that 4months of IBB's reign to reduce the inflation rate so as to make a mark that he (IBB) can deliver.

my friend you are indeed a bias bootlicker of GEJ for posting what you have absolutely no knowledge of..it is indeed very worrisome that jonathan ers will go any lenght to propagate rubbish lyk this...BUHARI WILL WIN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF 2015 with a landslide..am sure of that.
I have always said that I'm not a fan of Jonathan but people should stop portraying Buhari as the messiah without flaws. Give me another candidate other than Buhari, Atiku and I'll vote for APC but if not GEJ till 2019. Thanks

2. If you read what i posted there, I made mention of the author of the article, I didn't include you. The author clearly made a bold statement that Buhari operated a budget surplus, you ed it in you subsequent reply with a link that he indeed operated a budget surplus.

The question for you is this, having gone through your research, do you still think that Buhari operated a budget surplus as stated in SR?
If he didn't operate budget surplus, why lie? The author should have said that reduced the deficit instead of the outright lies

3. So you agree now that the idea to build the two refineries predated Buhari as head of NNPC? if you agree with this, then we will move on to the next.

Warri refinery was started even before Buhari came on board, One question you have refused to answer.. how possible is it to initiate, design and build a refinery within 1 year (1977 to 1978)?

Who signed the contract is subjective, since we do not have the contract document, I cannot tell you the name of the person who signed on-behalf of Nigerian government.

Please, easy on my friend Bacarnista, I presume after he has seen the truth he is contemplating dumping the fruitless tree of APC and the winning team.

If you over-dent his image, we may not enjoy his benefit when he finally defect. Please, take it cool with him.. I beg. grin

He is consulting already… tongue

Thank you.

me I wonder where he saw reserve, u can be sure he is another normad with a poor sight due to river blindness or desert dust
datolee:

You got it all wrong.. the figure i quoted wasn't reserve.. it was total debt at the end of Shagari istration which you claimed that Buhari cleared with few days. Nothing in my write up made mention of reserve so I don't know where you go it from. I repeat, read properly, nobody ever made mention of reserve.

The two key question for you are

1. Did Buhari, as you said, cleared Nigeria debt within few day of coming to power? do you you still stand by that after reading the link to the debt management office?

2. Do you still stand by your "fact" that Buhari initiated the construction of Warri and Kaduna refineries after reading the extract fron NNPC website?

You are an intelligent guy and I expect a good reference from you

(Regarding no 3 and 4, I only highlighted them to show that Buhari wasn't the Messiah who saved the economy from total collapse.. other than that, I had no further argument)

Who Signed THE Contract For The Refinery?
General Muhammadu Buhari did
The lubricating oil complex of Kaduna Refinery is the first of its kind in West Africa and one of the largest in Africa. The consulting firm, KING WILKINSON of Hague, Holland, in conjunction with NNPC engineers, developed the plan for the refinery. The contract for construction was awarded to CHIYODA CHEMICAL ENGINEERING & CONSTR/UCTION COMPANY OF YOKOHAMA, Japan in 1977.

You explained nothing only giving bogus statement. Anyway, I I am doing a research on the actual debt acquired(If any) or otherwise by GMB's regime as at 1984 December and August 1985

Unfortunately, government agencies have the reputation of cooking figures to suit the person in Power. Iwaela comes to mind. Hence, I check and cross-check with reputable foreign sources, especially on issues like this. Anyway, the $50 million dollar external debt Paid by GMB's istration was the ONLY one I came across after so many search on materials that was available as at that time. If I had got a hint of the inherited billions, I would have included it. Like I said, I am doing a research on the actual debt acquired(If any) or otherwise by GMB's regime as at 1984 December and August 1985

We are again going back and forth. Unfortunately, you didn't open that Yahoo link, if you did, you would have seen input of El Rufai(Before he became a Progressive) and Joe Odumakin, President of Campaign for democracy.

Did you read the link I provided to you? Ofcourse, you did but won't it.

PS: Whenever, I am debating/arguing I am not doing it to win or lose but to present logical and verifiable argument and also to learn from the other party.

Vague and subtle submissions. The question is: did Buhari offset the nation's debt at his departure in 1985? The answer is NO. So stop hoodwinking Nigerians. Much as we can attribute some virtues to Buhari's personality, his BUTS are just too numerous to ignore. A Buhari presidency will surely lead Nigeria to self-destruct. The nation does not need a personality that accused the Fed Govt of "destroying the north" in the fight against insurgents.

oga I respect u a lot stop defending indefendable gej will always face critics as worst as obasanjo tenure is,we can point out what he did when he was in power,I was very young during obj tenure and I saw what he did, even while most of his critics are from his own people,he made sure Nigeria clear all his debt,he at least brought the atm,gsm improvement in Nigeria foreign reserved was close to 42billion then, even we all know how Efcc was effective even when people says he used it for political gain,at least some people was sent to jail,Nigerians are so spoilt we Dont need someone of gej not now maybe in nearest future,a man that can do tangible thing in 6yrs cannot do anything if given 10yrs,go and ask Obama what he faces everyday
I respect you too sir, and thank you for mentioning Obj, i regret to say GEJ as a president has not done well in some aspects thereby losing many political points nevertheless the same OBJ u are comparing to GEJ had little to deal with during his own tenure aside the militancy...If giving a level playing ground and a stable political atmosphere Jonathan can move Nigeria to the next level...but how can he, when some group of individuals has vowed to make the country un-governable for him by sponsoring Insurgents..my question to GMB and all APC ers still remain

Kelvin0: Mr GMB, what would you say you left unfixed/undone during your almost 2 years in office as the then military head of state of Nigeria that you want to fix now or are you just power thirsty..?

GMB:.........................

Kelvin0: Why do you think you are the only one who can solve the problems of this country....or is it that you see it as your birth right to always be at the helm of leadership in this country?
I know this because in
2003 and 2007 u were GMB ANPP
2011 u were GMB C
now u are GMB APC.....should we still expect another transition if come 2015 u are not elected president?

Let's get this cler. You raised issue on key areas....

1. The GDP under GMB, I was vindicated.

2. The inflation rate, Again my submission was vindicated

3. The External Debt: While you agreed that $50Million dollars was actually paid by GMB within few days(which I had hinged on), you went further to prove other debts persisted.. RIGHT.

4. The Refinery: This is where we are having an argument. I insist that GMB signed the contrct and supervised its implementation in its capacity as NNPC Chairman. The Warri Refinery website didn't disprove it. So also experts opinion. I stand by this. Thank God Obj is alive.

5. The Budget Issue which you brought frm SR:There was a great improvement in the budget balance and reduction in budget deficit during his time.
BUHARI BUDGET BALANCE:
Inherited a Budget Balance of N3.364.5 million.
His 1984 Budget Balance was: N2.6 Million, achiving a -21% Growth http://chituaeconomist..nl/2010/01/budget-deficit-and-macroeconomic.html?m=1

However, Jonathan's budget deficit is at 1% of our entire GDP= $5 billion

Conclusion:
You were wrong on 2 ITEMS, Right on external debt and WRONG on the Refinery fact twist.
dis guy is either high on wet weed or he is copy pasting as datolee said earlier(dats y he can't defend his points). How r u vindicated on d budget and inflation issue? Guy u r already confused, see as d guy is presenting u raw facts and u r here embarking on a futile journey/running around with no course. Guy just give in already, u have nothing to offer again.

Lets examine another lies from Buhari ers on economy, this time by Ola Idowu http://saharareporters.com/2014/10/23/if-buhari-easy-defeat-why-fear-ola%E2%80%99-idowu

Quoting 6 paragraphs before the end of his If Buhari was easy to defeat, why the fear? essay

1. If Buhari paid off $4 billion of or foreign debt, how come the debt was higher than it was when he left office?

2. Shagari didn't borrow $15 billion, it was total debt before he left office, meaning, his borrowing plus the borrowing of previous government

3. It is on record that Shagari government refused to follow the IMF guidelines, including devaluation of Naira, the same thing Buhari er is using to hype him up

4. The inflation of 40% happened in 1984, that is during Buhari istration

5. Another big lie of the century, Nigeria never, and I repeat, Never operated budget surplus under Buhari!! The only times Nigeria had budget surplus were in 1971, 1972, 1995 and 1996. How these people can look people in their face and tell blatant lies just to sell their candidate is alarming. Nigeria's deficit under Buhari stood at N3.3 billion in 1983, N2.6 billion in 1983 and N3 billion in 1985

General Muhammadu Buhari did

http://www.nnpcgroup.com/nnpcbusiness/subsidiaries/krpc.aspx

I think maybe we should rewind to you initial statement which you presented as fact

As NNPC Chairman, He was the man that Initiated and signed the construction contract of the existing Warri and Kaduna refineries

I will ask you again, with the evidence provided, do you still stand by your fact that Buhari initiated the Warri and Kaduna refineries? Please, go through my post here, I have always highlighted the keyword, initiated.

My simple argument is that he did not initiate any refinery as NNPC chairman... Fact number 1

He did not sign the contract for Warri refinery ... fact number 2

The question of who signed the contract is subjective, I could say it was signed by the petroleum minister, that is if there was one then. Since we do not have the document, it is very difficult to say who signed the contract on-behalf of Nigerian government. Nowhere in the report did it say that the contract was between NNPC and CHIYODA CHEMICAL ENGINEERING & CONSTRUCTION COMPANY OF YOKOHAMA.
