They've started their pokenosing again o.

We know of 'some places' where students dare not go to write their waec exams so long as it falls on Monday or may 30 and they dare not say kpim o.

lol

I am sure this is similar to the loudspeakers or noise (so to speak) by other religious bodies some people complain about , particularly Mosques and churches.
And even laws are made to tame such nuisance . why hasnt same be applied here ?

do loudspeakers from churches and mosques restrict peoples movements?

What is bad in it? Oro is part of culture and it's a way of life. Happy Children Day

How dense can you be? Culture that stops others from their own activities is vague and shouldn't be encouraged. Live and let's live.

It's a native Yoruba festival from ancient times. During Oro festival (a festival of sacrifice), there is restriction of movement. This varies from community to community. In some communities, only women are restricted from going out. In some, non-indigenes, whether male or females, are also affected. In others, everyone is prohibited from going out, unless you're a chief in that community.

Before Oro, an announcement is made in the community that no one should step out. This is usually followed by a chilling warning: "If your goat or hen goes missing the during the festival, you should look for it but if your person goes missing, don't bother looking for them."

During an Oro festival, of the Oro cult parade the community with the Oro masquerade, looking for anybody that violated the curfew. Violators can face serious consequences. In some places, the person may be killed and sacrificed to the Oro deity.

Many have argued that the ritual murder of human beings for any reason is barbaric and that Oro should be either stopped or modified. But many Yorubas continue to the practice, insisting that ancient practices must continue for the preservation of culture.

Welcome to Africa

It is Selfish to be putting the Oro -Day on the Children's Day Celebration - very WRONG Indeed..
They the Organisers are Very Selfish ,as they have different Days they do their ' thin' so why choosing the Children 🚸 Day in particular- which is just 1 Day out of the year,I e. 27th of Every May of Every Year and Children Day Is Done -All Over The World 🌎.
-What has been the Oro benefits - or do they put Naira on the Masses Table or Print Money from CBN?
-they normally Do It at Night, but why During the Day Time- because People are not interested but they want to vent it on the People at all Costs and some local people are behind this.
The traditional people should know what is good and carefully choose their dates,if they feel it's important to them.
NO -To Day -Time- Oro in Ikorodu and Other Places,in Ijebu- Side.
Very Shameful Act.

How an intelligent human being will be comparing two evils favorably beats my imagination! I didn't want to reply that guy. People with such a way of thinking are irredeemable.

The country looking like a broken vehicle is no surprise. It would have been a huge surprise if things were better, having such poor thinkers littered all over the place.

Ruining children's day in an area shows how wicked people are.

Oro rites are to ward off evil, who can say maybe bad things will happen to the kids today?

Bad things happened to Liverpool fans yesterday when they were celebrating.

Sad but true. It's not as if those poor thinkers are not in the majority, but they pollute or contaminate anywhere they find themselves no matter how small their number is, just like bateria or a rotten egg would do in the midst of other good eggs.

Culture is important, but it evolves. Any cultural practice that endangers lives or restricts freedom, especially for children on a day meant to celebrate them needs to be reconsidered, reformed, or relocated in a way that honors tradition without harm.
My humble opinion.

Your argument is flawed. Do Christians and Muslims engage in human sacrifice (at least not in a brazen manner) What we are saying is that human sacrifice is bad, barbaric and gruesomely wicked. In this modern world, we shouldn't be talking about Oro again and just as killing of twins is a thing of the past, the same thing should apply to Oro.

Africa is filled with low thinkers.

If not, why would oro come out during the day.

The day Africa leaves religion is the day we would start making progress.

Religion is a figment of man's imagination.

There's Oro in Ikorodu today that children should be partying...
It's unacceptable!
Daytime Oro should be banned in Lagos state..

Oro is just like celebration of Christians and Muslims. It should not be banned, but people should be allowed to move freely while the Oro is ongoing.
