Hi, I need some help figuring out something I’ve been contemplating.

Due to some financial difficulties, I have to relocate and I’m looking for a place in Nigeria that’s very affordable in of rent and general cost of living. One of my top priorities is reliable electricity and good network connectivity, as these are essential for my work and daily life.

My budget is quite limited—less than ₦100,000—so affordability is crucial.

So far, the options I’m considering include:

Osogbo, Osun State

Uyo, Akwa Ibom

Gboko, Benue State

Abakaliki, Ebonyi State

If you have any suggestions, insights, or recommendations about these places—or anywhere else that might fit my criteria—I’d really appreciate your input.

Thanks so much for your help!

Your ancestral home. In the house built by someone in 1920 when the community gather together to help build house for someone out of mud.

You can cultivate fresh vegetables and rear animals for your consumption/sales without landlord wahala.

Any other place is expensive, relative to your earnings.

Bottom line, make money!

You didn't mention security as one of the key factors. Gboko Benue State?

Do you work remotely or got a job paying in dollars, and now you want to relocate to a place where your money stretches like suya on a hot grill of
MANNABBQGRlLLS.

Taraba State is one of the most affordable states to live in, with cheap housing, food, and a low cost of living.
Also, Kogi, and Bauchi are among the cheapest states.

.....and This is official.

Uyo is not cheap, especially when we're talking about staple food.

If you want a cheap place to live, you also need to understand that you won't be earning highly too. I mean, if you earn high, chances are that you will have to spend more to live in that are.

Consider everything before making a decision. Best wishes

Sincerely speaking, you should consider the North. Except for some towns in the South, state capitals are not cheap to live in.

Talking about North, you don't need to go too far, consider areas around the outskirt of FCT (or particular settlements around Airport Road, some areas in Kuje, Zuba, etc). But note that you may have to settle for a self con with not much space and lesser aesthetics.

Also, places bordering Abuja/Nasarawa such as Masaka, One Man Village, Akwanga or places in Niger State ( Suleja, Madalla, Guaraka, Kaduna Road etc). Staying around these places will afford you the opportunity to be able to quickly enter Abuja even on daily basis if you need to hustle around there.

Mind you, food and fruits are relatively cheaper in Niger State.

Hopefully, by next year, your story will change for the best. Wishing you God's guidance and favour as you navigate this journey called Life

Jos - good weather, ok infrastructure, awesome social life, affordable food and housing

Osogbo - just like jos in most things. Jos has better weather and social life.

Uyo - better than the two above, but way more expensive

Gboko/Abakiliki - nothing special about them.

You can also consider Enugu or Calabar. Both are more expensive than Jos but not as Uyo.

Kaduna has all you need and more and very affordable. Kaduna is the best option.
