Normal just imagine that a Chinco defeat Yoruba/Igbo in their dialects nah we dey carry English for head. One thing you can't take away from South Americans is how they pride in their language

South America? No even go there! Which South American language are you talking about? Is it Spanish or Portuguese? The indigenous languages of most countries in South America are not spoken officially.

was he trying to prove that he can speak english or he was trying to prove that nigerians can speak english?

what has talking too much got to do with being a nigerian?

the british man that said nigerians can barely speak english, was he talking too little?

You're beginning to sound too emotional. The Briton talked tough and won, the Nigerian talked tough and lost. I'll only take him seriously if he deports himself back to Nigeria like he claimed. Don't say what you can't do, period. He did Cho Cho Cho and lost which is the bone of contention.

I'm not ready for the back and forth on a straight forward matter like this. Some people are cho cho cho personalised, it's a different ball game if you do it and come out on top and this bros didn't.

Peace ✌️... Bye πŸ‘‹

Since you are not sounding too emotional on a straight forward matter, it is surprising that you can't answer the simple questions I asked.

was he trying to prove that he can speak english or he was trying to prove that nigerians can speak english?

He proved his point. He scored 79 by a loss of 4 points to a native speaker and that proves a point. He also clearly stated that they couldn't come to on all the tests that could have favoured him.

He won and those of you ridiculing him should be ashamed of yourself. He's fighting for us all by trying to save us the mental stress and money most European countries extort from us in the name of fees for English proficiency test.

I doubt anyone is ridiculing him. In fact I'm very proud of him, it's a great feet. My issue is the clause added. I knew he won't beat the Briton. Why add that you'll deport yourself. If he doesn't deport himself then it's a classic case of chest beating.

Just challenge him without a clause. Simple.

Big respect to him as he did well to be very honest...

Apparently, Nigerians can win this .

If the Nigerian had won , it'll will be a huge slap on the face of all Brightons.
Moreover, the judges will be English

Yet, the English native could only do better by only 4 points against a foriegner on his own language and you are exhibiting your hate bigotry and foolishness disguise as being correct. If that is not shameful i do not know what is.

What English language were your fathers speaking that we can not attain today ?!

The English winner is just a high school graduate, while the Nigerian guy is a university graduate and an English teacher

I have no problem with him trying to humble the other braggart, but the whole 'I will pack up and leave is just disingenuous'.

Even if they had done all 4/4 and the Briton won, Ifedayo certainly ain't going nowhere
Why mouthing off then?

Congratulations to my Naija Brother.

As far as I am concerned the he has clearly ed the message to that Briton and indeed other Britons.

I am sure the Briton would be stunned and will be thanking his God that he won by those 4 points.

By the way, why didn't the Briton score 98 or even 100 as per NATIVE English speaker. Naija guy gave him a run for his money, jooor!

The Briton won without even practicing unlike the Nigerian dude who has been practicing and learning English language for decades.

Dude the Britons owned English and can defeat anyone without even practicing or preparing ahead

You no lie at all. When I newly got to the US, in my head I concluded they are speaking jargon that our Nigeria teachers can never mark for a student as . If you too speak grammar, you go correct yourself tire because they will never understand you. Just go with their flow and continue with their jargon.

I'm certain you're one of the proponents of the groundless and discriminatory native speakerism concept. The fact that you're a native speaker of a language does not make you better in speaking, writing or teaching the language.

It's time we stopped this hasty generalization. Some Nigerians speak or write English in condescending way should not, in any way, be equated to Nigerians speak or write bad English. The moment you propagate the latter argument, you put us all in the same box.

Nigerians speak a version of English that's unique to them as non-native English speakers. World Englishes is not an inferior or a below standard form of English.

European ancestors enslaved African ancestors and forced their language on Africans and generations unborn. Here comes a modern day slave bragging that he speaks the masters' language better than the masters.
The English people have different varieties of English they speak natively and make no fuss about it. In short, one must adapt to it to communicate effectively.
Someone explain to me why a Nigerian will be dragging English language with an Englishman. Even if the Nigerian speaks an impeccable Queen's English, his skin colour will be the biggest roadblock he will face. It is not as if his people in Nigeria (fellow blacks and indigene) treat him any better.
