If you score 2 in yobe, you have ed, meanwhile a person in Anambra will need to score 139 to equal the boy who scored 2 in yobe? They have really cheated the north, thinking they are doing them a favour. This is a way to destroy the youths of a place with illiteracy, masked as opportunity. That's also why Nigeria will never work. 15 Likes 1 Share |

Do people now agree that the igbos are poised to be the most educated in the country..? I told ppl that the Biafran war was as a result of jealousy of the high educatedness of the Igbo tribe... It makes them to fill up most technocrat juicy positions... ND both the yorubas and hausa dnt like that... It is hardwork 17 Likes |

States like Kebbi, Taraba, Yobe, Sokoto, Zamfara will still be claiming to be spending billions on Early Child and Primary Education!

I see that Ondo is erroneously listed twice, while Ogun is missen. Perhaps, the upper listed 'Ondo' is supposed to be for Ogun state. Op should pls clarify. 1 Like |

You don't necessarily need to write National Common Entrance to gain ission in Unity schools in the north. The good thing again is that their government subsidizes education heavily. The government pays almost 80percent of school fees of indigents. I the state government of the Unity school I attended in the north back in the early 90s subsidized school fees for indigents and non-indigents. 2 Likes |

This is very old. It is not applicable again. How State Cut-off Marks Work: National Merit (60%): The Federal Government considers a candidate's overall score (a national merit score) in the Common Entrance Examination. State Equality (30%): A percentage of the school's capacity is allocated to each state to ensure fair representation. Exigency (10%): This is used for special cases, such as children of military personnel or those from underprivileged backgrounds. State-Specific Cut-off Marks: Each state has its own cut-off score, reflecting the number of candidates who can be itted from that state. These cut-off marks are calculated based on the state's population, the number of available places in the schools, and other factors, according to Business Day News. Key Points: The cut-off marks are not fixed and can fluctuate each year. The selection process is a multi-stage process that involves both national merit and state-specific considerations. The Federal Government's goal is to ensure that all states are fairly represented in the Unity Schools, while also maintaining a focus on academic merit. Examples from Previous Years: In Lagos State, the cut-off mark can fluctuate, but it's often around 132. The cut-off marks for states in the South-East can be around 134 on average, while some northern states may have lower cut-off marks. Some examples from previous years include Abia (130), Adamawa (62), Anambra (139), and Bauchi (35), according to Business Day News. 1 Like |

Ofemannnu: You just validated the above with your submission. It is absurd and absolutely senseless. It would have been better if at the end of the day, you pay them differently at point of employment; if you ratio the job opportunities since those guys up North don't like education. These are some the things fueling the call for secession across all the down South regions. You nationalized this, same quorum syndrome is used in JAMB. But when employment comes, you give it all to these religious inclined guys. You made them look politically superior than others. Majority of the Federal institutions are domiciled up North. In all, absurdity gone too long. 4 Likes |

bigpicture001: If you were hausa and Yoruba will you open yout eyes and allow another tribe take up all your employment opportunities? Is it not the same thing In igboland, will you prefer to employ a yoruba over an igbo in the south east? These measures may have flaws but it was designed so that one group won't dominate others in federal appointments and jobs...... Nobody dey drag jobs or school space with igbos in their state government owned institutions 22 Likes |

I went to a unity school and as at today some of the 27 in Yobe her children are all graduates and some even doctors. Whilst she came in not speaking any English and she spent 2 year in year 1 and year 2 and by the time I left she was in year 3 and fluent in English. I thank God for her and her parents perseverance and she no carry belle. We are as strong as the weakest of us and we need to continue to draw all closer to the middle so that there is improvement all round. State governments are responsible for primary and secondary education in each state. Unity schools are set up as part of the recommendations after the war to unify Nigerians now I am not scared of any people from any part of Nigeria. In my time parents were not interested in sending their children out of region (it is probably still the same now) and got the letter never discussed it with me. I Just happened to spot my name under the TV and had to convince my parents that I want to go as this was in Anambra state now I ask myself what was I thinking. Only about 15% was out of the region. The only way to satisfy you with victim mentality is to hand everything to you. Una no like equality and some balance of federal character at all. God forgive you for not being your brothers keeper. Even when all other regions is only 15% in yours while your region alone is at least 15% to 50% elsewhere. ibechris: |

Are they likely to get the crème dola creme from other regions representing only 15% of the year’s population absolutely not. You can’t compare apples and oranges and the last time I heard they did riot and broke so many things in the school because the teachers would not let them cheat during waec exams unthinkable during our time and we still all got 5 credits( in our time we were counting how many A’s) I think currently the rate (5 credits) is the low 50s percentile. Most Genz have not known poverty so they are not as determined and disciplined around their education and this phone distraction wahala e get as he be. PresidObi: |
