Aunty Joy School Expels Pupils Because Their Mum Refused To Pay ₦15k Party Fee (16376 Views)
DesChyko: 11:30am On May 17 |
Every parent must be able to distinguish between tuition fees and school fees. You do not only pay tuition and believe you have met the obligatory school fees payment. The private school is not a charity organization, they do not get reliefs from the government, and it is up to them to decide what to do with debtors. It is the job of the PTA of the school to look into this and decide if it sits well with them, not the general public or law enforcement. |

mastermaestro: We don't run school but we run businesses and private schools are nothing but businesses that offer service instead goods. Sadly, extortion is the order of the day as far as Nigeria private schools are concerned and some people school owners are more daft than others when it comes to extortion. And it is getting worse. |

wilson2:what do you want to hear from the school again ? Guys like you encourage impunity with such careless talk. The ministry of education has rules and regulations for schools to abide by, please point out where it says students must pay party fees or be expelled. Sometimes, you fence sitters should try using your heads |

Picolenz: There is nothing wrong with what the school has done. Parent take school as a joke. School have rules and parents have a right to take their children elsewhere if they find the school objectionable. The school has even been gracious to return the school fees without deductions. The payment of fees and levies is a fundamental and implied term of a school - parent contract. If it is broken a school has the right to terminate the contract. Aunty's Joy school if you are reading this well played. Other entitled parents will hear you loud and clear. 1 Like |

Port8080: Funny enough, what you should realize is that the same people who are supposed to do the regulations are the owners of most private schools directly or indirectly through their brothers, sisters, family , church mosque etc so they can't regulate themselves. There shouldn't be anything like a private individual owning a nursery, primary and secondary school in a developing country like Nigeria. If it's going to be private then it has to be owned by an institution or organization but not a private citizen anything apart from that is just the same rubbish that we had been having since the 1990s when these crazy nonsense things called private school started in Nigeria. 1 Like |

Trymeee: Nice move. I will always ask people to defend their establishment by all means. It takes a lot of years of diligence to break even in any business. Only a fool will fold their arms and watch one bitter soul tear it down. I am very pro-establishment. Protect your private business or organization by all lawful means! Nor let one stupid staff or client come spoil your hard labour. Most people who work or speak against organizations have never founded one by themselves. They don't know the cost of starting up something from ground zero. To start up, sometimes you starve yourself, you borrow money, you beg family for funds, you sell your valuables, you deny yourself of simple pleasures, and then one devil comes along thinking it's fun to tear it down. Na to cure their madness! ![]() 1 Like |

School owner spotted. Really? Take your money and go....just like "go to court" Private schools these days are all about money. Imagine paying 500k+ because your child wants to participate in interhouse sports march past after school fees. Extracurricular activates that we did for free is now billed. It's lawlessness at it's peak. But then, that's Nigeria for you. Judolisco: 1 Like |

nlfpmod: First off, it's a private school. Their building. Their rules. While you're busy manipulating your kind her with you half-truths, be sure to tell them how you were pre-informed that payment is mandatory before accepting to enroll your kids there and how instead of negotiating with the authorities, you chose to freely unleash your tongue at the teachers/owner alike (I dare you to deny this!) like you can stage little kids for 30mins nonstop with impactful knowledge. IMO, the school helped you out a great deal with that unavoidable decision you selfishly refused to take.before it got to this point. Take your kids to a government school where no one will force you to pay anything. Enough of this public display of sickening self-entitlement over another person's hard work and business. 1 Like |

Greattha:lawlessness on whose path pls? The woman is the one not following the sch rules, like I told someone earlier, I would have had a problem with the sch if she wasn't refunded her money, she should take her child to a sch where some payments are optional.... I don't know which sch you attended but if it's a government sch, PTA levy was compulsory back then, will you say because my parents won't attend the PTA meeting so I won't pay? Na government sch bdat oh, not now to talk of private |

wilson2: Privates schools will never expel their students withiout extremely absurd reasons. Their business is solely depends on number of students, so why would they expel them because of party fees. Like you'd rightly said, let hear from the school authority before we jump into conclusions. This woman must have embarrassed everyone including the school owner before such action was taking. 2 Likes |

mastermaestro:Exactly…. Only sensible comment I’ve seen here. I’ve followed you cos of this comment. Expecting to see more non-sentimental and emotional backed comments like this that exposes the hypocrisy of Nigerians. A private business has the right to expel any students for not paying “gate fee, or pissing fee, or standing fee” it’s their of service, even if it’s ridiculous. But as usual , poor Nigerians are holding opinions ![]() |

Judolisco: How can you make optional payment a compulsory payment and still saying it is not illegality? That's why we have educational authority that regulates activities of greedy people (proprietress in this case). If government investigates the school now and close it down temporarily or order the school to pay some penalties, the school owner will begin to beg and wail |
TotoIsGud4boy: 12:39pm On May 17 |
GetMeRight:The school can expel students just because they don’t like how the parents dressed for PTA. Yes! It’s a private owned business, take that to the bank! |
MomohMrMoore: 12:39pm On May 17 |
Its high time Lagos state assembly enact laws to moderate the activities of these private schools. It has to be nationwide. Any erring school should have their licence withdrawn. These school extort parents at every opportunity. Is it a must to party? The pupils are there to learn, not to attend parties. This is a kalaluta country where everybody behave anyhow. |

mastermaestro: I'm into business and omoh, I don't mind loosing 10 customers to keep my trademark intact. Let me share a scenario. Been a Christian, I make sure my hands are free of any anomaly. Their happen to be this driver who used to buy PMS in my station. I suppose he was not okay with the service of a new staff one day and he started telling other drivers to boycott it as my Meter and my fuel is adulterated. I started this business renting fuelling stations years back and a man out of bitterness will just ruin it. I told my manager to reach out to the man and even pacify him with some incentives. Next time baba came luckily I was on ground as those tanker boys no dey disburse wetin them send them. They sell some off along the way. Baba started is shenanigans again. This time he was like they should give him 30naira change. Very flimsy thing the man was trying to create a scene on. I just walked over greeted him and gave him is full cash though they already sold the fuel inside is bus tank. I told him he can leave and baba was shocked. After much ado etc he left. I told my folks never to sell or allow him entry again. I lost 20k that day but if he wasn't checked, he would have used that nonsensical radicalism to push better customers away. I still see the man by and that doesn't stop me from greeting him if need be. |

Picolenz: Not joke, they are THIEVES, SCAMMERS. They charge millions and pay teachers 50K. Nobody knows what they do with the money |
GetMeRight: 12:44pm On May 17 |
TotoIsGud4boy: Hear yourself! How did that look even to you? Because you run a private school or business doesn't mean that you are free to extort your customers or the public. Do you even know that government regulation of schools and education cover private schools as well? When your school is closed down, you will realise that you are bound by regulation |
Trymeee: 12:44pm On May 17 |
GetMeRight: You're the one acting too emotional. Private schools don't just expel. They count their gain by number of students they can get. For the authority to expel her wards then the woman needs to be checked. But then, Nigerians as usual. MORE EMOTIONAL than WISE. |
Prince1759(m): 12:45pm On May 17 |
The extortion from private schools currently is so annoying. Government should look into this matter.
|
GetMeRight: 12:46pm On May 17 |
TotoIsGud4boy: Lol. The school or any business owner can do what they like as long as the authority in charge of the regulation is not aware of their activities. |

All these private schools are something else. Na Baptist school I jejelly carry my boy go even as a muslim. My primary and secondary education were from one Baptist school to the other and that doesn't change me from practicing islam. Instead, I was well informed about the two religions. Na me dey carry first for my primary school including CRK those years.
