I think the problem El-Rufai is having is that he probably didn't do a lot of aligning and consulting before he defected to the SDP. And he should have done more of that with popular Southern politicians with high electoral values, because he already has the north at his beck and call. And then, he should also have a more nationalistic perspective or approach to issues affecting the country

In 2013. 7 Governors moved from pdp to apc to form a coalition with C and ACN.

The Governors moved with all LG chairman, state house of assembly, Reps and senate.
At the end of the defection, apc had majority number in the senate.

Infact in kwara state the pdp secretariat was painted and changed to apc. They moved with the whole structure of the party
