If Nigeria's airspace is to be breached by a foreign party like say Canada?? ECOWAS as a collective alliance have been breached, wasn't ECOMOG as a military organisation established to intervene, and defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of member states. How do military alliances like NATO and ECOMOG defend and enforced the territorial integrity and sovereignty of memebr states if there isn't a defined border and airspace.
The ignorance in this thread is a "joy that keeps on giving".

Brother, have you read an excerpt of the speech Trump gave at the meeting with Satan Arabia? I don't know if I'm dreaming or not. It's quite revealing. For the first time, the US foreign policy read anti-interventionism and openly itted that unipolarism as spearheaded by America since the end of the cold war was wrong. Then it goes on to canvass for a new multipolar world order, one in which no single nation would dictate to others how to run things. Unbelievable!!!
First, it was Rubio's astonishing words on the same issue:
....And I think that was lost at the end of the Cold War, because we were the only power in the world, and so we assumed this responsibility of sort of becoming the global government in many cases, trying to solve every problem. And there are terrible things happening in the world. There are. And then there are things that are terrible that impact our national interest directly, and we need to prioritize those again. So it’s not normal for the world to simply have a unipolar power. That was not – that was an anomaly. It was a product of the end of the Cold War, but eventually you were going to reach back to a point where you had a multipolar world, multi-great powers in different parts of the planet. We face that now with China and to some extent Russia, and then you have rogue states like Iran and North Korea you have to deal with.
Now Trump....Here is a part of the speech:
Before our eyes, a new generation of leaders is transcending the ancient conflicts of tired divisions of the past and forging a future where the Middle East is defined by commerce, not chaos, where it exports technology, not terrorism, and where people of different nations, religions, and creeds are building cities together, not bombing each other out of existence. We don’t want that.
(Applause)
And it’s crucial for the wider world to note this great transformation has not come from Western interventionists or flying people in beautiful planes giving you lectures on how to live and how to govern your own affairs. No, the gleaming marvels of Riyadh and Abu Dhabi were not created by the so-called nation-builders, neocons, or liberal nonprofits like those who spent trillions and trillions of dollars failing to develop Kabul, Baghdad, so many other cities. Instead, the birth of a modern Middle East has been brought by the people of the region themselves, the people that are right here, the people that have lived here all their lives, developing your own sovereign countries, pursuing your own unique visions, and charting your own destinies in your own way. It’s really incredible what you’ve done.
In the end, the so-called nation-builders wrecked far more nations than they built, and the interventionists were intervening in complex societies that they did not even understand themselves. They told you how to do it, but they had no idea how to do it themselves. Peace, prosperity, and progress ultimately came not from a radical rejection of your heritage, but rather from embracing your national traditions and embracing that same heritage that you love so dearly.
(Applause)
And it’s something only you could do. You achieved a modern miracle the Arabian way. That’s a good way.
(Applause)
Going by this new US foreign policy shift, Netanyahoo should be having sleepless nights right now. No wonder he is talking about weaning Israel's security off America's .
Interesting times ahead.
US foreign policy remain the same. Stop believing lies from trump and his team.

The Ukrainian war to Zelensky and his western backers is like a pretty girl you have spent too much money on and you don't want to lose even though you know she doesn't want you. You are upset about your lost investment and hoping she will drop her guards one day and open pants. So you keep spending money on her whilst telling everyone that cares to hear that she is a gold digger.

WritterNg: ⚡ Russian President Vladimir Putin named a group of low-level officials to represent his government at talks with Ukraine in Turkey, and gave no indication that he planned to the negotiations.
In a decree issued late Wednesday in Moscow, Putin appointed presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky to lead the delegation that also includes Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin, and Igor Kostyukov, head of military intelligence. A group of four other officials were named as “experts.”

The ignorance in this thread is a "joy that keeps on giving".
For context, ECOMOG and NATO are two different and incomparable things. NATO is a collective defense alliance while ECOMOG was a peacekeeping group.
ECOMOG was only involved in local conflicts (civil wars, uprisings, and all) and was not created to fight other armies or act as a collective defense group.
If you attacked one ECOMOG member, then that member was on their own. The other are not required to aid or them.
Multiple ECOMOG member-state countries were even involved in wars and conflicts outside of ECOMOG even while ECOMOG was still active. For instance, Nigeria fought against Cameroon over Bakassi in 1993 and there was no talk of ECOMOG coming to Nigeria's defense.
In all, collective defense alliances like NATO are very rare but if you want to compare anything to it, then you should compare the Soviet-era Warsaw Pact or the current CSTO.

The caveat is that in 4 years, the interventionists, nation builders, and nonprofits will return.
Still, it's a pleasant change of pace in American foreign policy. Even if transient.
-Lord
I couldn't have agreed less. In fact. I don't think AIPAC and the Mossad criminal gang are going to just let this new and sudden shift go without a fight. I won't be surprised if there is some sort of massive false flag operation in a bid to rein in the Trump team. Netanyahoo is increasingly becoming desperate.
While the next few months and years look bleak, this shift, when taken on the surface, mark a radical geopolitical shift, especially, when you consider that folks like Rubio used to be part of the neocons.
Well, the bottom line is that, Trump would still Israel, but no more unconditional .
It's rumored that Mike Waltz was removed from his previous post due to this very reason. He was liaison too much with Netanyahoo in ways that contrast with Trump's peace plans.
Like you said, the next 4 years shall tell. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

This transformation stands as a powerful testament to what is possible when regional leaders prioritize self-determination over dependency.
It reflects the enduring strength of cultural identity, the promise of economic cooperation, and the resilience of people shaping their own destinies.
The Middle East’s progress is not imported—it is homegrown, rooted in vision, heritage, and unwavering resolve.
Some folks here doing life in Langley prison of misinformation wouldn't mind dying to disprove your last paragraph. To them, the growth and beautiful things seen today in the Middle East was done by the west, not the people.

So NATO have completely degenerated into shameless rookie pirates.
It turns out that the idiots per Estonia yet again and Finland tried to seize a Russian cargo ship bound for Gabon. The Russian civilian ship radioed the Russian military for help. They sent in an Su-35 that was armed to the teeth. The plane entered Estonia airspace ignoring all calls to back off. It then turned off its transponders.
On sighting the Russian plane, the Finnish plane and helicopters that were trying to force the Russian civilian ship to change course and be in custody of Estonia naval ships, fled the scene. The Naval ships from the micro nation Estonia also turn around and fled the area. They must have heard the Beep-beep-beep on their systems as the Su-35 locked on the damn ships. Then they went on tv and start wailing about how Russia has violated their airspace bla bla bla.
Ediots.

ECOMOG can be used for whatever the memeber states chooses to use it for period, if member states faced a threat from an external power, ECOMOG has a clause/protocol for mutual defence. "Peacekeeping" itself involves military confrontation. Regarding NATO, and the US, the US like Nigeria have fought alot of conflicts outside NATO, Also NATO-led Stabilisation Force (SFOR) is currently engaging in peacekeeping in kosovo. Article 7 have been used by the NATO community to turn her from a defense alliance into an invading/enforcing force like we have seen in Iraqi, Libya, Yugoslavia, Croatia etc. That's not the issue here anyway, What we are talking about is borders and Airspace. Let me see if you have also drank from the "chalice of ignorance" dose ECOWAS have a defined Border and Airspace like NATO ??
