Mass Failure: Exams Body JAMB Receives FOI Request To Release Questions, Answers Of 1.5million Candidates

The t issions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has received a formal request from a law firm, John Nwobodo & Associates, demanding the release of 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) questions and answers for over 1.5 million candidates who scored below 200.

This follows concerns over the examination’s unprecedented failure rate, which saw more than 70% of candidates scoring under the mark of 200.

The law firm, who said it is representing the 1,534,654 candidates, raised the alarm about potential discrepancies in the results, suggesting a possible malfunction in JAMB’s software.

According to the firm, the candidates' scores varied significantly, ranging from below 100 to between 160 and 199, with some of the lowest performers raising doubts over the examination's integrity.

In their letter to JAMB, the solicitors said:

“The above scenario has cast a shadow of doubt over the integrity of the software deployed by the Board in istering and marking the questions.

Unfortunately, the system is programmed in way that candidates are only able to view their scores against each subject and the aggregate thereof.

Moreover, the development has put your Board on the spotlight that the need for ability at this point and going forward becomes imperative and non-negotiable.”

The lawyers called for transparency and ability, requesting JAMB to release the full set of questions and answers for each candidate to allow for self-evaluation.

“In the circumstance, the transparency and ability required of the Board entail a reconfiguration of your system to not only display the aggregate score of the candidates but also the questions and the corresponding answers.

The approach would either validate the results as published by the Board thus earning the Board much more respect and public trust and clear the candidates' doubt or may produce a result necessitating the implementation of appropriate reforms to strengthen the integrity of the examination.”

The law firm emphasised that their clients are ready to pursue legal action if JAMB fails to comply with the request, underscoring their commitment to ensuring that the examination results are accurate and fair.

“Take notice that we have the instruction of our clients to explore every legal avenue to seek justice for the aggrieved candidates.

Accordingly, we would be glad to cooperate with you on any measures that would help to clear any doubts in the minds of the candidates regarding their actual performance in the 2025 UTME.”

The letter concluded by requesting a prompt response from JAMB in line with the timelines outlined in the Freedom of Information Act.

Good one

Let JAMB produce the marking scheme and print-out of each candidate's answer sheet to warrant these mass failures

Our kids can't keep on paying with years of their lives for JAMB's incompetence and Oloyede's hype and obsession with posting insane profit at the expense of JAMB's examination integrity

The main objective of JAMB should be conducting exams with transparent results, not posting obscene profits yearly as if they are Dangote Group..

Just spoke with an educator.
The person cited two examples:
- Student A got 300+ in the mock exam, and got 156 in the actual exam.
- Student B had 6 A's in WAEC, and scored 160 in UTME.

Both cases are obviously impossible.
When we were calling our JAMB, some cretins turned it into a tribal issue. Even the high and mighty Helinus spinned it into something tribal.

It's pathetic what tribalism has done to Nigeria and Nigerians.

Well let that avenue be explored. It will help all prospective students and JAMB itself in the future.
But will JAMB comply?

Yes . Let it be done . If Jamb is at fault, let them be sued and the registrar resign . If the students actually failed , the education system of the country will need to be overhauled .

Hahaha. They are still playing. Cheating in JAMB is now dead and buried! No amount of bullying and trolling will work if your child truly failed and you are attempting to blame JAMB.

It is disgraceful and appalling that in this same exam, 467 hardworking, brilliant and gifted underage candidates, who are less than 16 years old, scored 320 and above yet are not even credited and celebrated for their hardwork. Some miserable people want to make UTME 2025 about only those who failed because of poor preparation and ignore the success stories. Smh.

JAMB should remain resolute and go ahead with their early routine audit as promised. I believe in JAMB and stand with JAMB.

Some of the candidates are still online, pressing their useless phones and idling away with friends, trolling and insulting their father's age mates online, watching useless films and music videos on YouTube and/or even having useless banters instead of preparing for next JAMB. Some parents will abandon the education of their children to only the schools and teachers while forming busy.

Here is my recipe for your success: Find great JAMB study materials, tutors, upright tutorial centres( flee from cheating 'miracle centres') , mentors and work hard, follow the guidance of your tutors, study very hard till you grow lean, pray and fast for God's benevolent favour and mercy on the exam date and after the exam till you recieve your ission for your 1st choice institution and course.

Don't forget to COMPLETELY cut off TV and social media for the whole year! Those two will wreck your dream of ing JAMB in flying colours. JAMB is serious business and preparation for the exam doesn't mix with useless fun lifestyle choices.

To make top prestigious universities like UNILAG and top-rated lucrative courses in such top universities is a worthy prize that can make you for life. Go for it so that you are not stuck for life with lowly-rated glorified secondary schools with poor and low ission standards, mediocre arena where weak and failed JAMB candidates rendezvous 'just to leave home'.

Unserious and irresponsible fun-loving, busy-forming parents should get serious with parenting and enforce compliance, provide the and effective monitoring required by their children and their tutors.

JAMB is a high standard exam, it has always been so and I applaud JAMB for keeping the standard high to weed off unserious candidates. JAMB should even raise the bar to further help those candidates who are ready to work hard and self-sacrifice for true and sustainable success.

Can you read?
Students ed but were given poor marks. This is NOT about content.

Also, you can't even stop content monetization if it's the cause of poor marks.

Think, this fellow. Think.

I have always said it: JAMB is a Big Insult to WAEC. The existence of JAMB questions the existence, necessity, and relevance of WAEC.
