Nigerian Constitution respects people's faith and their decisions on health matters. As for the minor children their parents' decision is binding on them. However if the child is 14 or 16 ,he has becomes a minor adult who can speak for himself. A lot of judgements in Nigeria up to Appeal Courts and Supreme Court have been given to the right of Jehovah's witnesses to practice their religion according to their conception including their objection to blood transfusion.

Modern medicine has gone beyond blood transfusion because of the risks it possesses.Bloodless surgeries are most preferred by many doctors both abroad and in Nigeria. A woman who is a JW was operated upon some weeks ago in Nigeria. She is hale and hearty after the bloodless surgery.
Let us see what we happen after this exparte order by the magistrate who seems not to be aware of the extent judgements in related cases in Nigeria

Tell me one judicial decision of the court that has ever ed the JW parents. Don't come here and be saying things that are not true. No court judgement has ever ed this JW parents, simply because the right to life is fundamental and nobody is permitted to allow another d*e especially when that other can be saved.

I already know it is jehova witness people, very heartless set of people.

Even when you're dying they'll rather watch you die than accept blood transfusion.

It's not actually. It's an existing law that have been used by doctors to save the lives of children whom can not consent for themselves and the parents' decision deemed irrational.

If you have a patient with such parents, seek a court order and you can carry on with the treatment against the patents' wishes
Be ready to take care of the complications too should it go south. Cos the parents have the right to sue you for going against their wish and putting them in a mess of taking care of complications.

Actually, you are right and wrong at the same time. The Law respects the right of others to practice their religion. When a minor is involved, however, and it has to do with life and death, the Law reserves the right to empower doctors to do what they consider best.

This is not a new thing, has been there for years.

Though God has warned His worshipers thousands of years ago to abstain from blood {Genesis 9:4} stating it'll guarantee good health {Act 15:28-29} but faithless people feels the book (Bible) shouldn't be the sole determinant of whatever they choose to do with their lives as it's an old book written by people they don't know.

Today health practitioners around the world are enlightening their people against the hazards of blood transfusion.

The verses you quote are out of context. Is the blood sacrificed to idols or from a strangled animal?

Blood transfusion itself is not treatment and in a sane country, things can be done without it.
It might be fewer but it's not unusual nor unheard of for people to refuse chemotherapy, invasive surgery, transplants, resuscitation, blood transfusion etc
The sad part of this is that this is a country where Doctors are still using 1945 methodologies. They don't know any other things to do in such situations in case of unavailability(which is a frequent occurrence in our hospitals) or refusal of transfusion. They don't have plasma and other blood replenishment or blood recycling equipment, they don't even know what those things look like.
For the people involved in this particular matter, having to wait till now to attempt to remove the child is a sign of being unprepared or even negligent. The child should have been gone at the first sign of opposition or inability to ister treatment. You have no business there in the first place if you did your homework or actually aligned with the people of your fath.
Do not get pregnant and have kids if you cannot think, plan and save ahead. If the child has a condition or your faith denies some treatment methods then you should have arranged such matters with hospital liaison committees long time ago. A prepared person has no business being in a place where outsiders are now trying to impose, veto or retrace steps for you.
Fortunately, There are thousands of modern hospitals and doctors with experience to cater for these and many more cases such as Laser removal of kidney Stones without surgery, alternative care without chemotherapy, treatment without blood etc
Do not use faith as excuse for blood transfusion if you'll fail to monitor and comply with precautionary measures against drop in blood levels or having emergency s of similar faith doctors or hospitals that are able to handle your case. A person whose faith doesn't allow meat, will go out of their way to find and learn to prepare nutritious and strengthening vegetable based meals.

Hypocrite of Jehovah's witnesses they only follow part of the their laws that benefit them and discard others. So many of their kids have lost their lives because of a twisted interpretation of the old testament law to not eat animal blood. Meanwhile when it comes to sexual matters they practice double standards.

Beautiful.

While i respect the faiths of others, I am yet to see any sense in some of the things some people do because of faith. The court made the right move. Since the little girl can't give or refuse consent, let her receive the blood. When she's old enough, if such a situation arises again, she can then choose whether or not to accept blood.

I one JW patient I had. We were to operate her ovarian cyst which had twisted. She is a full-blown adult in her early twenties. Parents refused to consent for transfusion if need be. I personally counseled them, but they remained adamant. I somehow noticed that the girl was uneasy and scared. I targeted her...when the parents weren't around and I went back to talk to her. She said she didn't care, and would want to be transfused if need be..she just didn't want to OFFEND HER PARENTS. She consented behind their backs....but thankfully, we didn't need to transfuse.

I've also seen situations where some witnesses consent to blood transfusion secretly. One gave consent, but told us not to allow any visitor until we were done.

One guy, young boy. He had a cancer that had spread. He came to clinic paper-white pale. We immediately asked to it and optimize him. He refused transfusion. After going back and forth, he finally accepted, but it was somehow too late. We lost him.

Religion, so far, has caused more harm than good, I think.

Nawaooo πŸ˜₯, I no carry religion for head sha🀷

Speak less of topics you don't know much about. There are complications to every procedure. As far as consent has been sought, the doctor is not liable to any complications that arise. In this case, the consent has been given by the law court. They can go ahead to sue the court if they wish. They will still lose.

I know. Everybody now treks because of the risks of driving. And they're all switching to mushrooms because of the risk of getting a bone stuck in your throat when you eat fish.

When a person hears the same thing day in day out, it becomes their reality. In the real world, blood transfusions remain as popular as ever. Doctors everywhere continue to prescribe them to save people's lives. But in the reality/universe some people have crafted, "bloodless surgery" is now the norm because of the "risks of blood transfusion".

It's unfortunate in 2025 that to a typical Nigerian, the thought of refusing blood transfusion sounds like refusing treatment altogether because of how moribund the successive governments have rendered both our education and medical sectors.
Heart surgeries, caesarian sections etc have been done without blood transfusion.
Faith or Religion is not the only basis for refusal of certain practices in medicine around the world but that's another story.

The case have not ended.
Let the hospital and their cohort not celebrate.

Doctors and Surgeons in general its that BLOOD is POISON, always labeled HANDLE with care.

Forced medical procedure or otherwise to any person be it a Jehovah's Witness or not, lIS a RAPE on that person's conscience.

Doctors who still ister blood are still archaic and antiqued.

Because blood is given free by prisoners and well intention persons, most doctors commercial it, to make money.
The battle line has been drawn.
The Bible strictly says " It is the blood of Jesus that saves life."

I have always known that you JWs are so poor in understanding the Bible, hence you twist it with reckless abandon.

Where did GOD tell man to abstain from blood? What GOD said in that Genesis is:

β€œBut flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.”
β€” Genesis 9:4 (KJV)

GOD said they should not EAT THE FLESH AND THE BLOOD TOGETHER! Meaning they should not eat it raw!

You also quote Acts 15:28-29, the blood mentioned there is bloodshed! Murder! Killing of humans!!!

Poor biblical understanding!!!

Have you no understanding that the Bible likewise say:

β€œFor the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”
β€” Leviticus 17:11 (KJV)

β€œAnd almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”
β€” Hebrews 9:22 (KJV)

This is why I will always have problems with your contorted and satanically manipulated Charles Taze Russell's misleading and deranging doctrines.

Don't try to twist the argument here, the nexus of whether the girl lives or die was the blood transfusion, and in this instance the parents are objecting to medical evidence of blood transfusion because of their faith. Of course the parents would have been told that their are no other options of the girl's survivability but the transfusion.

Every medical intervention has got its own hazard, or side effects, or complications...blood transfusion included.

But guess what? Most times, these complications don't arise. Before surgery, patients are made to sign a written informed consent, they are also counseled on possible complications. Most times, these complications do not arise.

The so-called hazards of blood transfusion are not common outcomes. In my practice, in fact, I've transfused MULTIPLE patients. Not up to 5% come down with any form of complication. The ones that did react, a simple intervention with normal saline, hydrocort, promethazine and paracetamol is enough to control such a reaction.

Blood transfusion is safe, very safe. Has it its own complications? Yeah, but they hardly occur.

Thanks a lot. I am sure you didn't write this because of that fanatic but because of other rational people on this forum.

If you are not a medical expert, stop making statements that are not ed by research. Blood transfusion is being given all over the world. It has saved millions of lives. And not giving it has caused millions of deaths. We have evidence on that.
