$1.61 billion IMF debt cleared. OK.
It's good to rejoice when you hear "good news" about your country. I equally rejoice because I love Nigeria. I always look forward to more positive (really positive) developments about Nigeria.
However, for those who are jumping up and down on this thread, here is what they didn't tell you.

Data from the debt management office shows that by June 30, 2023, Total public debts stood at N87.379 trillion (N33.247 trillion external, N54.130 trillion domestic).
By December 31, 2024, Nigeria's total public debts stood at N144.665 trillion (N70.287 trillion external, N74.377 trillion domestic).

That is a whooping N57.286 trillion in more debts!

While data on the current figure for Nigeria's total public debts is not yet available on the DMO website, it is projected that the current figure stands at about N150 trillion.

What I am saying in summary?

Paying IMF while taking more loans from other institutions or/and countries doesn't seem like a bright spot yet.

Until the public debts figure decreases, I can't see anything remarkable that the government has done.

Don't just take my word for it. here

Wetin be $1.6bn to Nigeria?

Akpabio, Mele Kyari and Wike can offset
such a debt in less than six months, talk less
of a whole country like Nigeria πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬.

In fact, Jagaba alone can settle it in same
6 months, using his portion of Lagos IGR.

They're targeting to finish payment by 2029 but somehow in few weeks they magically managed to finish payment.

We all know the 2029 target is also a propaganda but this is the height of it all

Does this call for celebration? certainly it does.
Even though the Obasanjo Government achieved this feat with the world bank but successive Government due to their poor financial judgement went again on spending free.
one day we shall be debt free and the word of God in Deut. 15:6-11;28:12 shall be fulfilled.
God Bless Nigeria.
