My greatest fear over this landmark achievement is that another clueless northern president will take over because it is their turn and run this country aground economically and security wise, the only thing they bring to the table is boasting of an unproductive population

What should have made sense according to your ipob head is to borrow more n not pay off any of the debts right ?!

Clobisman:

I guess I am one of the agbotikuyo you refer to but i really want nigeria to work and that alone is my desire but does it make sense that I borrowed mr Abiola 5000naira to offset the 500naira I am owing Mr Kola?

Nigeria is like a man who cleared the debt he owed Kashamu but borrows more from Sule and Shetima. Debt na debt and the Holy book says "Whoever owes is a slave to the one he owes". All debts must be cleared before any celebration can begin and no more loan should be taken whether now or in future. Make apc no kill us with lies and propaganda abeg.

Oh really? When IMF debt climbed in 2024, was that also past istration or just interest on previous debt?

When did IMF debt climb in 2024?

Let's stay positive about this potential change, despite our past experiences. My dream for Nigeria is a future where everyone can afford basic necessities like food, education, and healthcare. We deserve reliable social amenities, especially energy, that benefit all Nigerians.

What would have made sense in my ipob head is that tinubu should stop borrowing for frivolous consumptions. If he had cut down the size of his government and lived by example the country would have saved up some extra money.

It's not complex. Legacy debt means debt inherited from a past istration. In Nigeria's case, all IMF debt is legacy debt because Tinubu has not borrowed from the IMF.

But doubled total public debt from 87trillion to 144trillon naira.. almost 100 percent drom what he met it at..

To pay back debt is now an achievement abi

My thinking too.

I have been wondering how this is such a big deal.

The loan was taken in 2020, repayable over 5 years through programmed or structured payments to ensure there are no defaults.

So I don't get the hype especially as loans have doubled from other sources.

Atleast you are one of the few apc ers with some functioning brain cells to have itted that there is still an outstanding payment!
What you just said is no different from what AI presented!
Bottom-line is that Nigeria still OWES IMF which is contrary to what your paymaster WhatsApp group is graciously churning out!

According to the IMF site which shows all indebted nations,Nigeria has $0 obligation to it.
Which means that Tinubu has paid all IMF debt as at 6th of May,2025.
If you are sad,you can do the needful.
Enemy of Nigeria.

It's a very big achievement

The achievement should be celebrating the success of the purpose of the loan.

Are you not thinking toward that direction?.

Nigeria external debt
This is a good one the major debt Nigeria have now is the chinese the other loans have good repayment plans.
Imf loans are always a burden the interests rates are high and loan conditions are always too stringent to allow for development.

For those of you believing every lies and propaganda about Ibrahim Traore has cleared Burkina Faso debt, please check the IMF list.

The achievement should be celebrating the success of clearing debt which takes 96% of our revenue, instead of more debt accumulation that hinders the micro economics and development of the country.

Are u not thinking towards that direction?

Have you seen a real nation that doesn't borrow?
USA is the most indebted nation in the world.
The main thing is to be able to pay back when due.
There had never been any President of Nigeria that has cleared IMF debt.
Tinubu just did it.
That is prudence.
If you are sad,you know what to do.

@Richtaiwo, how pathetic can they be! It's sad and undoing when one loses one's rational mind because of some trivial ethinc sentiments. They never see any good in this government despite some of the positives coming its way. This stems from the bloody nose they collectively received from the 2023 general elections, which their professed god and messiah lost. They are still reeling from that defeat. As a result, it's very difficult, near impossible, for their rational mind, if it's still intact anyway, to rein in their utter bitterness.

First thing those people will say is, it is a lie from the pit of hell, and will start searching everywhere to confirm the report. While searching, they will be praying and fasting that let it not be true.

When they finally discover it is true, then come the next step: they will now say, is it his money he used in clearing the debt? I sabi those people even beyond themselves.
Rest...it's legacy debt

PBAT will be rolling-out his Mid term report in two weeks specifically May 29, 2025.

It's obvious that major achievements have been made especially on the significant improvement on our foriegn reserves and international economic & credit ratings in the last two (2) years.

However, there is an "unwritten" memo on the "overhyping" of milestones in this PBT istration especially by the media handlers, to show that they should earn their pay.

Nigeria's total debt profile under PBAT has surged from approximately N 90 trillion to an all time record breaking of N141 trillion in two years.

The Poverty indexes for the rural poor is embarrassing and household grapple with the worst-cost- of- living crisis in a generation.

Based on the shortfall of the crude oil prices to $60 per barrel and the FG's projected benchmark of $75, there is every logical reasoning to believe except a miracle, the deficit on the 2025 Budget will be humongous.

PBATs media handlers overzealousness to throw numbers and overhype milestone shows the desperation to impress the public.
