A young Nigerian lady has sparked a wave of mixed reactions on social media after revealing that a man she met only two days ago paid her rent in full.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), @jessicdutchess_ shared her astonishment at the unexpected generosity. According to her, the man offered to settle her rent after a long and deep conversation during which the topic came up naturally.

“This man paid my rent after two days of knowing him. We spent almost 20 hours together speaking about things. I don’t even know how we spoke about my rent, but he just asked how much do I pay and I told him. When he dropped me off, he gave me a stack,” she wrote.


The post quickly went viral, triggering a flurry of reactions from s who either questioned the nature of the relationship or criticised the situation as transactional.
