Dude, you're an expert na. I'm a newbie. I really wanted to get some experience. And after that day, I stopped, cos I knew it didn't make sense.

I understand your pain brother.
Your car consumes more fuel but then it isn't the only issue, cos I use a higher litre engine(2.4L) and I buy 20k fuel to make 50/55k gross. At least after all deductions, I still take home about 20k, and my car also consume fuel.

I think you're picking the wrong trips. on bolt and use bolt for now. Don't worry about the acceptance rate, it isn't so important. Mine is about 16 or so. You can still reject rides you don't want.

Indrive is a messed up app(I still use it though) Imagine a ride that is 19500 when it was raining heavily yesterday, rider reduced it to 12k and someone picked it.

You can also use both apps if you insist on using indrive, but then make sure you check how much they charge to go to an area before picking trips for that area. E.g: if you choose to go to lekki, check on indrive how much it will cost to go to lekki, then switch back to driver mode before picking. It will guide you.

Finally, check if you still have catalyst in your car, if you don't, then try to fix it.

All the best

Also, does your car have thermostat?
Cos If your fan is working directly (without thermostat), it could also be part of the excessive fuel consumption.
All the best, bro.

Much respect, sir.

Yup, my car has thermostat.

I think I know what the problem is. A mechanic told me last month that my air flow meter might need replacement. He said it would cost me like 200k, and the guy is known to like money too much. So I decided to get a second opinion when I got to Lagos, cos I was in Ibadan at the time I'll get a second opinion this weekend.

Indrive will ruin you..You are a newbie. A large chunk of cars on Indrive are in a sorry state.

Remain on Bolt category only, deactivate "economy". Don't pick a trip you don't want and you will be fine.

46km for 9k . What are you looking for @ ikorodu. That's a dead zone. Read up past pages .

The last day I went out was last week Wednesday, and below is the break down of the trips. I started the day with a visit to the filing station, and bought 25k fuel.

*First trip
From Idimu-Ejigbo road to Governors road (Igando road end of governors road, not ikotun end)
Duration - 18 mins
Distance - 7.7km
My income - N2,499

*Second trip
From Isheri-igando road to Ikorodu
Duration - 94 mins
Distance - 45km
My income - N9,640

*Third trip
From Ikorodu to Tejuosho market, Yaba
Duration - 72 mins
Distance - 29.8km
My income - N6,337

*Fourth and final trip (The trip was going directly to my area, and I wanted to close for the day...which is the reason I took this ride)
From Unilag/University road to Egbeda
Duration - 65 mins
Distance - 18.6km
My income - N6,069

Total money spent on fuel for the day - N25,000

Total income - 2,499 + 9,640 + 6,337 + 6,069 = 24,545

Real income for the day 24,545 - 25,000 = -455

This means, after working for hours last week Wednesday, I actually lost N455 naira. This is why I decided to stop and re-evaluate things.

So guys, what do you think? Is it my car, or the trips I took?

UPDATE
I guess I should add that I used A/C all through the trips. It was crazy sunny day.

How will u not make a lose.
Igando to Ikorodu 10k "asin is it water ur car uses"
Ikorodu to Tejuosho 7k "omo"
Unilag to Egbeda 7k "u try"

U don't need to ask anybody to tell u anything.
It's a no brainer. U can't continue to repeat the same thing and expect a different result.

Consider doing short trips like Igando to Egbeda, Egbeda to Ikeja. Then from Ikeja u do another one to Yaba or Berger Or Ikeja to Island, rather than do a long trip from Igando to Island or to Ikorodu.
But if u must do a long distance trip of 1hr n above, then this is the rule; a trip of 45 mins to 1hr should be minimum 10k, 1hr - 1hr30mins trip should be 15k. And so on.

That said, on Indrive, u should gross x3 of your fuel money. Bolt; x4 of your fuel money minimum.
So I think in your case, it's a combination of taking poor trips and your car consuming too much fuel. Cos no way these 4trips will give u 75k even if u are the best of negotiators or 100k if they were to be trips on Bolt.

your pricing is very poor for the distance and time you are covering. Though your car is still sucking fuel if 25k fuel finished after just this trips

I said in the original post I do strictly indrive. I do it cos I can kinda control where I go. Not Like Bolt that throws you anywhere, and you ratings keep dropping the more you reject rides.

About fuel in the car. The gauge was right where it was before I bought the fuel in the morning. So, I more or less used up the whole 25k fuel.

If you can go to Ikorodu and Ikotun on Indrive, wheres the worst place Bolt can send you? You said Bolt forces you to go anywhere, but they don't.

Indrive will stain your white with their ridiculous prices. I'm sure the riders you carried counted themselves lucky to ride with you at such a cheap price.

Forget the bad things you hear about Bolt. Even a die hard Indrive driver will tell you that Bolt earning is more predictable than Indrive own. If I set my daily gross at 70k minimum on Bolt, I'm most likely to hit it consistently. You can't guarantee that on Indrive, and when you try to force yourself to take any trips, your net will suffer because you'll use more fuel.

The best thing is to know when to use either of the apps to maximise your income. Rainy season is here with us, you cannot force indrive riders to accept a higher price no matter the condition, Bolt riders are used to surge prices as a result of rain and/or other similar conditions.

Go to their office to rectify it

Uber is m@d actually. You can't imagine that after visiting their office at Maryland mall and snapping with both my expired and temporary license, they still rejected it.

I have not been able to use Uber since December 22nd, 2024 till date and my permanent licence is taking forever.

Thank God for Bolt and Indrive. This is why competition is good. Imagine Uber is the only ehailing app? I would have not been able to work for how many months now?

In as much as I want to hate Indrive for crashing the market price, they still helped to put Bolt in their place. We all know how difficult it was to get Bolt bonus with ridiculous conditions compared to now that only number of completed trips count, and other policies that Bolt relaxed or implemented because of indrive which seemed impossible for them to do earlier despite the complains of drivers.

So, I'm not hating on any app. I just maximise my earnings using all. While they try to use you, try to use them too. Sometimes I intentionally accept trips on both apps and cancel the one I feel is less lucrative. No pity for any app or rider, just keep your eyes on the money.

He’s new to this, and honestly, laughing at someone who’s actually putting in the effort isn’t cool. Others are sharing valued advice. if you don’t have any, it’s fine to just ignore.

He’ll figure things out as he goes. We’re all in this hustle together to survive, and it’s tough enough already. Let’s lift each other up.
