It is profoundly disheartening that in a nation crippled by monumental corruption, institutional decay, and pervasive economic hardship, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has elected to expend its dwindling relevance on the arrest of Business Mogul, E-Money, for the ostensible offence of spraying dollars at a public event. One is compelled to ask: is this the apex of financial crime in Nigeria? The EFCC, once envisioned as a formidable guardian of our fiscal integrity, has tragically metamorphosed into a performative agency — a toothless bulldog barking in the marketplace, seeking to impress rather than impact. Rather than channel its efforts into dismantling the entrenched networks of elite corruption, embezzlement, and fraudulent public procurement, it has chosen the path of sensationalism, pursuing high-profile figures for infractions that are, at best, symbolic. This latest arrest reeks of clout-chasing — a hollow display of authority designed to massage public sentiment while the real architects of Nigeria's economic tragedy dine unperturbed in their ivory towers. It is almost certain that E-Money, like many before him, will regain his freedom in no time, and this episode will dissolve into yet another spectacle with no meaningful consequence. Until the EFCC redirects its energies toward substantive economic crimes and the prosecution of powerful kleptocrats, it will remain a caricature of its intended purpose — loud, visible, but ultimately ineffectual. 59 Likes 4 Shares |

Why can’t people do without bragging with money Well, I’m more convinced than ever that it is when you don’t have money that you have to show off to others to show that you have money. Real billionaires like Dangote, Adenuga, Otedola, Arthur Eze don’t go about having to show that they’re rich 12 Likes 1 Share |

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) should be dissolved. The laws enabling EFCC should be repealed. Arresting people involved in the spraying of naira notes does not justify EFCC's existence. In summary, EFCC is of no benefit to the general Nigerian population. 8 Likes |

No difference between leaders and the citizens. Everyone breaking laws as they seem fit and yet want the country to get better. Is it a must you must deface currency before you can be noticed?

The number one reason we are suffering in this country is our taste for extravagant lifestyle, starting from president to the poor, in fact, average Nigerians spend extravagantly than the elites. Whenever I see some people talking,...... People who are predominantly less than average ooo, ....they would be talking how they went to club and waste money there, for some, how they go for expensive phones and wrist watches, yet the same people would be lamenting in another breath, how economy hard, how they are broke and how things hard for them. To save for the raining days, whenever there is surplus, becomes problematic for the govt and citizens. 2 Likes |
