Angry JAMB Candidates Smash Chairs at Ibadan Exam Centre Over Technical Glitch A wave of anger swept through a JAMB examination centre in Ibadan, Oyo State, as frustrated candidates went on a rampage, damaging chairs and other properties. The unrest followed a reported technical fault that caused delays in the conduct of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The chaos broke out on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Abimbola Excel School CBT centre situated in the Elesin, Amuloko area along Akanran Road in Ona Ara Local Government Area of Ibadan. Footage obtained by IntelRegion revealed the agitated candidates venting their frustration by vandalizing plastic chairs within the exam hall, expressing outrage over their inability to participate in the scheduled test. Although security officials eventually arrived to calm the situation and restore order, there were no reports of any arrests made during the incident. This disruption adds to a series of recurring technical issues that have plagued the UTME in recent years. Similar challenges were recorded in 2024, prompting JAMB to reschedule affected students’ examinations. The 2025 UTME officially began on Thursday, drawing over two million participants nationwide aiming for ission into various tertiary institutions. According to figures released by JAMB officials, a total of 2,030,627 candidates ed to take the exam across multiple centres in Nigeria. Interestingly, among those ed, 41,026 candidates are below the age of 16. Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the JAMB spokesperson, noted that the board had made necessary adjustments in collaboration with its partner agencies to ensure the smooth conduct of the exams despite such interruptions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYdSiVtYd8U 1 Like 1 Share |

I understand their anger because those who got screwed due to no fault of theirs will still have to wait for a year before they can retake the exam. No makeup test, no refund, no nothing. Not even an apology. It's a disgrace.

Reason I don't like these Gen-Z for anything. Patience they lack, respect they don't have, calmness is never their way. They are too confrontational and unruly. What could have been easily done with patience, they destroy things

Ibadan is very big and some examiners came from the far distance and couldn't thumb print due to the glitch. A boy took four buses yesterday before getting to his center still yet the glitch affected him. I understand their frustration but they over do.

Rexymania: Abeg rest! If those children had let it slide, one foolish jamb official would tell them it's their luck. They would be asked to retake the exam next year. Human incompetence is tied to spirituality and luck in Nigeria 6 Likes |

On the bright side...these Gen Zs or their offsprings will be the ones to change the country for good. Just watch. They have all it takes to challenge...! Edited: It is not just about violence. Take a look at most Genz. They don't have the patience, morals and thrust into religion as we were while growing. Most of the Genzs are already living the life of a Millennial in his 30s or 40s at age 17 or so. These GenZs by default wouldn't take chances in living below standards when they get to 30. Just watch! It is either they give them their way or they forcefully take it. 9 Likes 1 Share |
