President Bola Tinubu met with suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, in London.

The meeting, confirmed by The Africa Report, was held at the insistence of Governor Fubara, who assumed office in May 2023.

As of the time of this report, News360 Nigeria could not confirm the details of the meeting, as presidential aides ed said they were not part of the President’s latest trip.

However, officials confirmed that it was the first face-to-face meeting since Tinubu invoked Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution on March 18, declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State and removing Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, from office.

Tinubu’s national broadcast on March 18 cited “months of intense political instability” that had “paralysed governance” and “threatened national stability.”

He appointed Navy Vice-iral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas as sole .

Opposition governors from seven PDP-controlled states immediately filed a suit at the Supreme Court, challenging the constitutionality of the proclamation and calling for a return to democratic governance.

Tinubu, who had been in Paris and then London since 2 April, agreed to meet with Fubara in an effort to defuse the ongoing crisis.
Officials said the pair discussed restoring a functional government in the oil-rich state.

Although neither side disclosed specific details, presidential aides who spoke on condition of anonymity said the talks focused on the possibility of Fubara returning to office before the end of his six-month suspension.
The President returned to Abuja on Monday night after spending 18 days abroad.

It was learnt that Fubara’s estranged political godfather, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was not part of the meeting and was reportedly uneasy about such discussions taking place without him.

However, Tinubu is expected to meet with Fubara, Wike, and of the Rivers State House of Assembly to chart a lasting resolution to the political crisis in the state.

PBAT does not want to seem like he is playing by the books of Wike, afterall he was once a governor, more than 16 years ago and Wike was a governor.
PBAT wants to ensure he plays a fatherly figure to Fubara but it's left for Fubara to accept it or not.
But PBAT will not truncate Wike's roles in Rivers State politics.
Fubara needs to be guided if he desires to go far in politics especially go ahead into national politics rather than remain in State politics.
Fubara alone should decide, but he should also he will have to give something tangible to PBAT to hold onto, not that PBAT may ask it of him but I think Fubara should do what is right if he knows what is right and not play like he is a saint....
PBAT respects Wike and knows he has someone to lean on to in Wike in the South South but what can Fubara bring to the table.

APC will not win Rivers State governorship election and Fubara will not do such thing.

Even PBAT will not advice Fubara to do that.
Fubara knows what to do but let him come clean with PBAT and he will be adviced.
PBAT respects both Fubara and Wike and will not be found to favour one over another, but he respects loyalty and honoring agreements as long as the other don't go back to play back stabbing.....

Best is for Fubara to defect to APC and have peace of mind...

I don’t trust this Tinubu, however Sir Fub should be smart and ensure he secures his duly elected seat back and gets gurantee for second tenure, we live to fight another day, definitely that Wiked drunkard will surely pay one way or the other for the betrayal of Rivers people to the drug lord
