I am sure it cuts across South West (Yoruba) and South East (Igbo). Current politics in Nigeria should not influence the youth generation for affectional or matrimonial relationship. This war only favour the politicians. When we meet abroad, we don't say i am of this tibe, but only identify as a Nigerian

Sorry to burst your bubbles. Most of those doing the tribal shit online are youths and some of them are even abroad. Going abroad doesn't change the mentality of a typical Nigerian. Even religion , as powerful as it is, doesn't change Nigerians much. Except for the really "principled" Christian believers. Before you do inter-tribal marriage in Nigeria, shine your eyes. There are still detribalised individuals in Nigeria, people like me grin. But that doesn't make me naive!

Nairaland just bans anyone dsmespite Seun's explanation earlier. I think it's a deliberate effort to exclude the opinions of targeted groups in Nigeria for political reasons
EXACTLY 💯

But Seun will still loose in the end.

Good decision. I tell my children not to force themselves on any family where they are not welcome. Even if you would be spouse talks badly about your background, it is a red flag, look for another person.
If you check well the guy in question is Yoruba......I don't know why them no the blend.

Inter-tribal marriage still happening, inter-tribal marriage still flourishing and it will cotinue to happen. Infact it is increasing compared to years ago. This babe also said, she too had no intention of marrying anyone that is not her tribe if no be love. This babe seems to have the similar rubbish view like the mother of the boy.

You already assume its yoruba when u and i know tha, igbos prefer to marry igbos(even d babe say she no wan marry outside her tribe if no be love), yorubas prefer to marry yorubas, hausas prefer to marry hausas, as a Nigerian you probably prefer to marry a Nigerian. The picture painted by this lady shows the mother of the boy is a troublemaker and tribalistic, and people like that full every tribe(including yours). There are plenty yorubas that still want to marry igbos, other happy with their igno partners, plenty igbos too that want to marry a yoruba partner.

What tribe did you marry?

How will your children learn native dialect, if you are ijaw and your wife yoruba?
Am just trying to know how you and your wife will teach your children tribal language, if both of you are not from the same tribe!

She's the one that dodged a bullet in form of a toxic old woman. She would have regretted every single moment of her life if she had decided to go on with that marriage
Every persona in that her story na toxic and red flag, including the babe herself. The boy is a weakling, the mother is tribalistic and controlling, this young babe herself is tribalistic(she has same traits as the boy's mother)

Abi oo, if they don't allow you to insult and attack, you cannot convey your message, .more so, you must play victims before your voice can be heard.
maybe you don't know Seun is even loosing more by allowing people like you and others to insult and turning forum to toxic heaven.

How many genuine females talking again, wen immature teenagers have used their toxic minded post to chase them away.

Go and check Facebook and tiktok to see how females participating.

Maybe the mother is afraid of 10m bride price, payment of all school fees from primary to tertiary, payment of bride's dad and mum etc.

With the way the world is evolving... Brother I don't care about native dialect my personal opinion. I'm not running for any political office or advocating for some chieftaincy rule. I just want my happiness and my children to explore the world and conquer it. I've been married for 15years. Calabar/ Igbo

The mother saw something she cannot understand. I am sure once she becomes a mother, she will understand it too.

Like Obey said, "Moms have their place, Wives have their place - wives can be replaced and wives can go, but one's Mom will always be one's Mom."

That you dated him for 2years without meeting his parents...that in itself should be a red flag unless both parties were not really serious at first.

I think her boyfriend dodged a bullet too.

This type will change it for her mother-in-law rather than try and win her over if her boyfriend still decided to go ahead with thee marraige.

Local woman

Love no get boundaries

It is hard to comment on a tribe baiting thread or topic like this and not be tribalistic in a way.

If Nairaland doesn't like tribalism that some say NL is full of "these days" even though I disagree with that but then such topics and thread should not be making it to the front page. Suppression of opinions through a censorship bot is not a progressive way to live in a virtual anonymous faceless forum like Nairaland.

Don't try to fix what's not broken oga Seun smiley

I think everyone has the right to like or dislike anything even another tribe because that does not define the tribe either way.

The question to her should be; was she in the relationship because of the tribe of the man because there are other people of that tribe who will go out of their way to marry an Igbo.

Fallacy of generalisation from the old woman

Which tribe is good in nigeria

She's looking for girl that will be kneeling down like cripple for her all the time

Nice. Congratulations to your married life.

But don't you think your children not knowing how to speak their dialect, will affect them! How do they discuss secret messages in public! I think this is one reason why parents tend to marry from one tribe!

Gossiping in public is not my problem... I and my wife are communicating very well. Its not a most to tie your umbilical cord to your tribe and dialect. I tend to do away with such primordial sentiment. My parents ,friends or anybody can't decide for me
