So which one is finishing you, the age? The 50k salary at that age? Or trying to get a second mouth to feed with 50k monthly salary at that age in this economy?

My thoughts exactly...
I wonder when it has became a crime for a man to be broke.

In as much as I understand the poster......we must not forget that life's race and financial success is not always for the wisest nor for the smartest nor for the most hardworking or the strongest but of God who shows mercy to those He chose to show mercy.

If you are successful financially through your career/job or business/craft, just thank God everyday and keep thanking God for blessing the works of your hand because it is not by your power, wisdom, smartness or intelligence that you are successful....because some people are far better than you and they are still struggling to eat or secure a job or make a sale in their business or get client, so to all successful people reading this, thank God for your life and be humble and help as many of your struggling family and friends as possible because its not by your power.

You can be smart, intelligent, hardworking, reserved, respectful, good mannered and even educated and still not end up financially successful whereas someone else might be stupid, annoying, lazy, uneducated and dull and still end up financially successful. If you haven't seen these kind of scenarios in life, then you are still a baby, wait until you experience life more.....

Financial or career success in Nigeria especially is mostly about luck, family connection, God's favor and a little of smartness/wisdom.

To all those still struggling financially at 30yrs and above, please don't give up or get discouraged by words like this, just believe in yourself, believe in your dream, believe in God....if you have done your best and things aren't still working in your favor financially....try getting sincerely close to God in prayer and supplication and keep doing your best, believe me, God will show you mercy one day...if I can be where I am today that I no longer worry about finance....then anybody else can....just be steadfast and have faith in your dream and please learn a skill and find a way to start a business no matter how small it is....from next year I will be free to mentor interested Nairlanders on how to become successful in business for free cool

I believe it's important not to dwell on how little you're earning right now. Instead, focus on building your skills, learning, and making yourself more valuable. As you grow and invest in yourself more, you'll begin to see opportunities unfold and things start to fall into place. Stay determined your efforts will pay off man

Take it as motivation!

Being that you earn that low, you must have felt attacked, and that's fine. The value of yourself is not defined by the 50k you earn or some random person's opinion of it. To survive in Nigeria is not child's play, but so far, you're surviving. You're not responsible for tanking the economy.

Just focus on what you can control. If you want to grow your income, you need to start small; save 5k every month, or get rid of certain expenses. Is it easy to request a salary increase? Can you add another job to your current hustle? Can you skill up on YouTube? Can any small side hustle fit into your schedule? Talk to people around you; any sure programme that pays, get the gist, and sign up ASAP. Make friends with those who lift you up.

See the toxic opinion in that post, push it far, far away from your mind. Success is about character and growth, not just money, and not marriage! Picture yourself in a year; in 5-years; take a step at a time and work towards it. Celebrate every win, and look towards the next goal. You'll get there. You're a survivor.

The economy may not get any better, but you're tough enough to have survived so far. Here's to more growth 🥂

I wonder when it has became a crime for a man to be broke.

It is indeed a crime for a man to be broke.

Know that when you're broke, you will be disrespected, disregarded & treated with the most humiliating gestures. You will have to settle with everything less than your desires e.g., types of food, clothings, accomodation, types of women.

Poverty will make you see a local market woman selling fish as a beautiful lady. You will stay in a 'face me, I face you' compound where you share same toilet & kitchen with lowlifes.

When you need medical attention, you will drink agbo or get treated at a local chemist.

If poverty is your portion @ 40 years old, you need to rethink your life because you very close to the grave. When are you going to live a comfortable live? Even if it is not too comfortable, at least enjoy small.

And by the way, no woman will want to suffer with you in this age. Otherwise, she would be fvcking around.

Not a crime to be earning 50k but it's good to add other means of making extra income because Apc has finished us

If you're a man in this present Nigeria economy earning 50k monthly....at 40+

Omoh! I'd advise you relocate from your current location or go to rural areas and invest in farming... agricultural products are all selling now and you'd spend little on feeding.

No matter where you are in Nigeria...50k monthly can't start a family except you want to be having issues maritally.

But why wait till you're 40+ before realizing that you're finished Sir?

Time never go...start acting now!!!

It is unfortunate but there are people in this country at that age and older earning less then N50k a month. We shouldn't shame people for their economic status, all fingers are not equal.

there is different between a man being broke and a man being poor. I wasn't comfortable about a salary then venture into business with target saving which will earn you daily income ,try other options, earning 50k isn't a problem but being comfortable with the 50k is the problem, try other options and add business with it, take up skills that could change your story. That's the logic, even as I'm struggling, I'm earning daily from 2k to 5k from business, same business that gave me 7k to 10k daily in 2013 to 2021 even when cash was still valuable.investment earn me 150k to 200k Monthly and side hustling can bring break through at a time , buhari and tinubu do person strong things , na person wey get money dey patronize business that offer entertainment
