Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror is back!


There’s a familiar Netflix trend of acquiring brilliant IPs and watering down what made them special Money Heist, You, and sadly, Black Mirror after Season 2. Those early UK-produced seasons were bold and uniquely unsettling. But with Season 7, it feels like Brooker clawed back more creative control, and I was reminded why I fell in love with this show in the first place.

It opened with "Common People" a classically bleak BM tale. A woman gets a subscription-based brain implant to reverse a terminal condition, only to start blurting out ads. She soon learns that to maintain comfort, she must keep upgrading her plan. It's a grim but painfully believable commentary on healthcare, tech, and capitalism.

Bête Noire pits two long-time academic rivals in a chocolate company against each other. Deepfakes play a central role here, blurring perception and identity. The message? Absolute power corrupts, and you truly don’t know what you’re capable of until you have it.

Hotel Reverie was probably the weakest episode, but its premise is haunting. With AI, old Hollywood classics like Casablanca can be remade, identical sets, props, even actors. What could possibly go wrong?

Plaything is a nod to Bandersnatch. A programmer creates a game that gets hijacked by a deranged reviewer set on world domination. While not entirely fresh, the message is clear: our prompts are training data for models, and soon, AI may predict our every move.

Then there's Eulogy, my personal favorite. Paul Giamatti, now Oscar-nominated, delivers a devastating performance. A tech company allows him to relive photo memories of an ex-girlfriend for her memorial, but what unfolds is a painful deep dive into trauma and heartbreak. The emotional weight and Giamatti's performance scream Emmy potential.

Finally, USS Callister: Into Infinity....a solid sequel to one of BM’s best episodes. With the creator gone, the digital clones are now space pirates, surviving on the edge. A decent follow-up, if not quite as impactful as the original.

Black Mirror continues to explore the thrilling yet terrifying frontier of tech. AI, cancer cures, 100+ year lifespans, these aren't science fiction anymore. But as the show warns, our obsession with ultra-capitalism may be our undoing. The fact that the world’s richest are projected to hit trillionaire status soon says it all.

Brilliant season. Bleak, bold, and beautifully crafted👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

Buried hearts is a solid 8/10 for me.

This is definitely one of the best Korea series i have seen for a very long time.
Binge watching a 16 episodes k drama and then still wishing they could have extended the project and add more episodes should tell you how interesting this series is.

This series isn't just about romance, infact they moved away from romance and dived into mystery, thriller, action.
The numerous twists you wouldn't see coming, the emotions it activates in you.
At one time you are sad and another time you are happy.
This is a mixture of sad and happy, sweet and sour.
I must give it to south Korea series when it comes to tickling our emotions because this series gat me emotional for real.

The revenge, the plotting, the romance, the betrayal, the loyalty, the hidden secrets, the revelations.
This series has it all.

Another aspect of this project that i loved so much was the character development, they eventually made all the casts grew on us from the main acts to even the maids.
The funny female maid added a little comical spark to the show.

I thought they could had given us a happy ending and ended it all, only to give us another twists thereby setting the motion for a possibly season 2.
Though it was sad because i wanted a happy ending for the two love birds, they deserves a happy ending but unfortunately the families they came from, the company they have to manage makes their life hurtful.

I can't wait for a season 2.

It is not necessarily paying her other people's salary, one of suites was for the judge to grant her attorneys the privilege to see the payment info of other stars on the show, so that they can properly negotiate a good severance from Disney on the original suite of wrongful dismissal from the show based on her political view.

Apart from the sad ending, the plot twists in the show were unbelievable.
There are so many things you know now for a fact but soon secrets will start coming out and the truth will shock you.
The series is mystery.
