Good morning. I'm sorry to hear about your family's VV refusal. The response you have stated is the generic response given when a refusal is given. The best way to proceed is to apply for a GCMS note. This will explain in detail why you were refused, and that way, you will know what you need to do if you intend to reapply.

If you read backwards on this trend, you will see where the steps to apply for the GCMS note were posted; it takes about a month to get it.

The conference is legitimate but non of you is considered a legitimate traveller especially in this era of massive refusal!

No nah

Don't just try to reapply for now, give it at least 2 yrs then you can apply alone for tourist visa

This is actually for GCMS notes via CBSA

- Go to Google, search ATIP
- Pick the first option from the list of results
- When the page opens, click on next
- click/mark the privacy box and click continue
- on the next page, select Canada Border Services Agency from the drop-down
- from the next drop-down, select a foreign national outside of Canada
- fill out your required information in the boxes below
(Use your Nigerian address and phone number pls)
- Pick yes to the question about requesting information on your behalf if so
- pick member of the public for the category that best describes you
- Pick electronic copy for how you prefer to receive your notes/records
- click continue
- on the next page, pick privacy act on the 1st drop-down
- select English in the next drop-down
- select case files for the type of records
- fill out all necessary information below(for UCI number, use the format XX-XXXX-XXXX)
- In the comment box, write a short intro and your request. Eg:
Hello/Hi
My name is SURNAME, First Second. I have applied for a visit visa, my UCI is ...... and my application number is ......, DOB. I would like to have the notes for my file
- then click continue
- also click continue on the next page(you don't fill anything here)
- You are taken to the final page where you review or edit your info
- Check the I certify box and click continue
- You should receive a confirmation email from CBSA

I've tried severally to pay for my visa and biometric fees using my GTB and Union Bank cards all to no avail. I kept getting 'payment declined" response each time I try to check out. Can somebody please advise me on how to resolve this issue.

I think there’s a racket going around with port submission in the Lagos Centre. My brother got into the centre to submit and was told there was no network and he had to use DHL. My friend called me and said her driver was told to pay the same.

No, it was submission, not pickup. In this instance, he was actually at the VFS office. They told him no network and directed him to DHL downstairs where he had to pay. Doesn’t make sense to me that VFS doesn’t have network but DHL can accept ports… which is why I think it’s a racket. I don’t think they allow 3rd party collection in Lagos as well.

My brother submited for port stamping after permanent resident approval in same lagos last week and no issue , vfs is not even connected with dhl as a company so who did you pay ur 22500 as courier fee ?
In nigeria becos of our corrupt system nd mindset we see every excuse as a fraud even without proper investigation of root cause!

I’m not sure what you’re on about. I shared mine + my friend’s experience which you did not witness and asked if anyone else has experienced it and you go on full mode defensive.

VFS is not connected with DHL but they have shared services, no? If you think Nigerians would not find a way to exploit it, then you’re just being dishonest.

For anyone else going to submit their ports, please be aware of the racket going on and don’t fall for it.

I would like to share details of a recent visa denial with you, with the hope that I can get some guidance. I am a canadian PR working in the US, while my fiancee who applied and got denied a canada vistor's visa is based in Nigeria. She has a sister who is a canadian citizen, who invited her. She has applied for a visitors visa twice and got denied on both occasion. The first was last year when she requested to come spend time with her sister, she was denied stating she did not have enough economic and financial ties in Nigeria. ps-she provided her 6 months pay slip, letter from employer stating she is going on leave, and bank statements then.

For the recent denial, she was already engaged to me, but we thought it was better the sister still invites her, as they have legal association. We only plan to have our wedding in Canada, during this visit, before she finally moves to the US. To the application this time around, we provided purchased return tickets, letter of leave from employer, pension statements, tax returns, shares documents, proof of address in Nigeria, letter of introduction from church, family photos, past travel documents, and invitation letter from her sister, as well as her sister's bank statements. However, the visa was still denied. I have now requested GCMS notes and I plan to reapply myself stating that she wants to come for our wedding which is scheduled for July. I wanted to know what we are doing wrong and what steps could be taken to ensure that we meet the July date for her to be in Canada.

Very likely your new application will be denied again. For two reasons:

-first, this new application shows she's visiting for the purpose of marriage (or immigration) which is generally frowned on by visa officers. The idea is that once she gets married, she doesn't have to leave, which is a problem.

-second, if they get a whiff of the idea that her final destination is the US, it gets even tougher. This only means she's not just visiting Canada, but could likely be using the visa as a launching pad into the US. This is also generally frowned upon.

Of course there are exceptions, but honestly I don't see this working. They have no incentive to give her a visit visa if it looks very clear that she just wants to ultimately migrate with it. More especially because she's Nigerian. It was already difficult simply getting the visa using her sister.

The visa officer will also question why you can't just go to Nigeria, marry her and file for spousal family visa. Plus how many trips have you made yourself to Nigeria to visit her to establish that she really is your financée. If you can't prove multiple trips, how can you prove you have been seeing each other a while. This looks dead on arrival to me. They are just going to cite some flimsy lack of economic ties and deny her.

Your best bet is to go to Nigeria, marry her and file for spousal visa.

I've waited almost a month for biometrics confirmation despite multiple submissions on the web form. VFS claims to have submitted it, but the system shows "application requires biometrics." I've attached the confirmation slip on web form but response is they haven't received it. What else can I do?

It is simple. They gave you an option due to technical issues and never forced you to use the courier, as it is optional. So, if you disagree, you can come back another day or week.At least you have 30 days to submit your port!

Thanks for this. I guess, I’ll ignore this application and just pay for another fresh one. Did your friend’s mum do another biometrics for the reapplication. I should add that I went twice to VFS Abuja to complain and they insist it has been transmitted

I believe the valid US visa did the magic. I have an expired US visa which I used twice in the past but I'm still awaiting decision after 3 weeks of biometrics completion.
