An All Progressives Congress chieftain in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, has warned that there will be huge consequences if Nigeria continues to neglect the South-East zone.


Igbokwe disclosed this in a statement through his Facebook on Saturday.

His comments come amid controversies that had trailed appointments under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s istration.


Recall that a senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, tackled Tinubu’s istration, saying that his lopsided appointments could boomerang.

However, according to the presidency, appointment under Tinubu’s istration is based on merit.

Reacting, Igbokwe said, “If Nigeria continues to treat the South-east as if the zone does not exist or does not matter, the consequences will be huge. The civil war has ended, but the scars are still there. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Neglect of SE is bad.”

Igbos should leverage on their capabilities and capacities to turn the east into the R and D capital of Africa. We did it during the civil war when ogbunigwe was manufactured and other weapons, today we are still in Nigeria, we can research, develop and manufacture other things.

All the Igbo businesses having a big turnover should open an R and D office in the east

They used federal government sponsored insecurity to destabilize Southeast and hold the region on ransom.

Don't think Joe just suddenly got sense. No. Not at all.
He's using his current posturing as a bargaining chip against the presidency; not that he suddenly developed love for Igbos.
