Y are invisible individuals charhing people high fees just to activate their starlinks devices. Fees go as high as 150k to 200 in the name of activation fees. Subsequent subscription is about 90k. Some people don turn clients to their employers de collect monthly salary.

Abeg folks in the house, anyone with useful information on this development. Sometime ago I read about how you can add another starlinks device to an existing . But can't . I guess this is thenee mode of activation starlinks devices in locations were there are no service.

I guess for this, the 160k sub assumes that the buyer will activate the business plan, which is the only one available at the moment in other parts of the country.

The 680k price for the kit though... cry

I will be honest with you, the little I know the activation cost is around 120-130k for the unlimited, while the 50gb data cap is around 9-95k depending on the exchange rate, and that’s what u subsequently too. But as for people doing it for 150-200k I believe they are adding their personal fee for service rendered. For me I charge 30k for activation. pay for your sub and and give me my fee. And mind you sourcing foreign currency too to make payment can be a hectic process so have that in mind also.

Starlink has introduced Gen3 V4 kit to the Nigerian market, but yet to open up residential registration. Only those in areas where business plans are still available for registration can get it for now.

The NCC needs to come to a compromise with Starlink soon, this thing has dragged long enough.

So can I "upgrade" from Gen 2 to Gen 3 when I already have Gen 2?

The news I've been waiting for.

I recently asked them and they confirmed it's the NCC problem making them not to open up the market.

But it's great they've given us the Gen3

Please how do I FastTrack the delivery of my replacement starlink. My starlink got spoilt after a heavy rainfall last month.I complained to them about a month ago and they said they would send a replacement. The replacement was supposed to be delivered today and now they have changed it to the end of April.
Is there anyway I can fast track the delivery? That will make it 2 months without the starlink internet.

believe some people are trying to sabotage Starlink’s presence in this country. Economically, it doesn’t favor them, so they’re using the NCC to frustrate it. The truth is, Starlink has taken over Nigeria’s internet market, and they’re scared that, in the near future, it will push every other network provider out. That’s why they’re now scrambling to launch a competing satellite service desperate moves.

But their plans to shut down or frustrate Starlink won’t work. Just this month alone, I’ve used over 600GB of data with Starlink. Tell me, which other service provider offers that for ₦38k, let alone with their painfully slow speeds? Honestly, granting Starlink an operational license is probably the only good thing the Nigerian government has done for its people and even that was accidental. If they had known how beneficial it would be to Nigerians, they wouldn’t have approved it in the first place.

I love how you stated they approved it by mistake. Nigeria doesn't like what is good for her citizens. When they finally saw that Nigerians even in rural places can now be productive with starlink they realised their mistake and now trying to frustrate and kick them away to make Nigerians suffer.

Even at 75k, starlink has no competition in of value of money and service.

Also, never you say starlink can't go. They themselves said it in their dezember message to everyone that if the NCC does not come up to a good compromise with them, they will leave the Nigerian market.

What did the NCC do? Starlink is oversubscribed and it only makes sense to stop accepting new subscribers. They are actively working on their ground station & PoP. Unnecessary hype about the Gen3 kits, no significant difference in of speed. After the expansion, things will improve.

Why do you guys always like false narratives. As at last year Nigeria was the only Africa country with ground stations. Starlink underestimated the market and poor planning led to traffic congestion. There's a lot of work going on in the Nigerian infrastructure and the African market. If they're planning to leave, they won't be spending more money on upscaling.
Kuiper is on track and will also be in the Nigeria market. OneWeb is gradually expanding and already in the African market.

As a previous Starlink owner, while I commend Starlink's services, it's false narrative to say that at 75k they have no competition.

I switched to the Airtel unlimited plan since selling off my starlink and so far so good in my location it has been nothing short of amazing and totally up to par for my needs( I do between 700gb to 1tb monthly). Infact with a battery back up of up to 6hrs, I am even more at an advantage.

As someone that have used both, I can comfortably tell you that I DON'T MISS STARLINK !

You're wrong. As a previous Starlink owner on Airtel unlimited plan I can comfortably tell you that I don't miss Starlink. I do 700gb-1Tb monthly and there is no compromise on speed.

I stream football games, watch Netflix and Prime on 4k if available, and do very good speeds, very similar to Starlink @30k. Was 20k previously.

Bottom line is Starlink is great, but considering cost of hardware, lack of battery back up, downtimes from damaged kits and having to get replacements e.t.c, the Airtel unlimited internet data is by far a better deal !

Plus Airtel's customer care is very active on twitter to resolve issues in case of downtimes.

Good, I also experienced this as soon as I switched, here is what I did to solve the problem;

1. Tweet @AirtelNigeria on X or whatever their handle is laying your complaint about the poor network connection.

2. They'll send a dm, make sure u're following their handle, in the dm describe the nature of ur problem, if they ask u to send ur number so they can look from their end, tell them it's a general issue with ur area that u would like to fill out the form with full details of ur area e.t.c

3. If they give u the list, it's usually like 10 things to fill out, just provide the details and in 2 days u should be blasting at full speed. I only had to do this once and for like 3 months now no issues at all.

Mind you I have recommended 3 people to try this out too and fortunately it worked for them. I hope it works for you.

Bro, enjoy your airtel.
Many of us can't switch from enjoying 200-350mbps speed to airtel's 20mbps that's not guaranteed.

In my place, I sell 100mbps to neighbours and still have about 150mbps to myself. I make around 400k monthly selling that 100mbps to people. Wetin I go do with airtel slower speed.

Enjoy yours.

I have been doing this for long those people are so clueless when it comes to fixing network issue they will ask you to switch off and on just imagine or ask you to send location blabla and still won't fix it jus go twitter and see people complaining about this recent network issue which is yet to be fix

If the NCC told them to stop accepting new subscribers that will be a good move, because the service is subpar compared to other countries so adding more subscribers will make it worse. The last time I checked you have to be on a waitlist which is common when they're out of capacity.

If I knew the native language you spoke I'll type in it and repeat that starlink didn't stop receiving new subscribers because of over capacity but because of NCC price regulations that doesn't favour them. Starlink charges all African countries $43 which is 75k today of which we are lucky coz outside Africa it's $130 montly. NCC forcing them to maintain 38k which is $22 or so isn't good for their business.

An entire country can't be over capacity. Only cities and particular areas based on the congestion of many s in that one spot.
Right now, even Sambisa forest can't sub for starlink and maybe there's only 1-3 starlinks there used by Boko haram. That usage can't put borno over capacity.

Its only about price regulations and that's all.
If you give me your local language I can use Google translator and convert it to your language for better comprehension.
