As much as I don't believe in all these practices , this was done when my aunty lost her daughter prematurely.. It was believed the man she was dating at that time used her for some sort of ritual. A cutlass was placed on her grave to Avenge her death, the man who she was dating died shortly afterwards..

This life ehn 🤔.
.it beyond just physical and even the bible and the Qur'an don't have answers to them

And yet they manifest

Fallacy...
Don't call it fallacy cos you don't know. It's work In Some cultures and it's an ancient method of justice.
The cutlass and broom will have gone through incantations by either a chief priest or the most oldest person in the family tree the deceased comes from.

The broom and cutlass are cooked with spells.

The reason most cultures in minority riverine areas of south south stopped it was because the spirit sometimes return back to the community to be crying after completing the task and people
sometimes see him or her in the bush or at night on different spots. It happened in my village over 20 years ago before the paramount ruler outlawed it.

But even now we heard few people do it at night when not satisfied with the death of their loved ones. They bury them at night

. Where is your evidence that it worked in these places you claim? undecided

2. A spirit came back to the community after killing how many people in the same community? What is the name and address of the person whose spirit returned? What is the name of this community it returned so we can conduct an independent investigation of our own? undecided

3. Yet Nigeria remains one of the injustice capitals of the world? undecided

whats dead is dead, there's no karma it doesn't exists in this universe, thats why good things can happen to "bad" people and bad things to "good" people. the universe is a blind intelligence and morality is an illusion we humans invented, if she wants justice for her son then hire a hitman with a gun to take out his killers or get them arrested by the authorities. or just accept the loss. out of these options, nothing else would work.

I grew up in Ikorodu, where these ideas were so commonplace. I investigated many of the claims myself and found that in many of the cases, the actual stories were not as claimed or spread by those who mostly wished to cover up the truth with those fables. undecided

I back in those days, we used to be told that on Oro day, it was the spirits that came out. I discovered later that it was instead a bunch of rowdy individuals who did, and they felt the Oro day was their day to wreak havoc on any woman who did not obey the prohibition order of the day. undecided

grin That is your experience, so why do you have to generalize?
All the claims were untrue in ur community does not mean there is definitely no truth about the matter

1. I haven't always lived in Ikorodu, you know. I spent time living in different parts of that country too — experienced different cultures/traditions. And what I came to realize was that the pattern of beliefs and cover-ups was pretty much the same everywhere you went. I didn't need to generalize to realize this myself. At the root of it all lies the same general idea... avoidance of truth and need to cover up for lack and incompetence. undecided

The very same way you do not need to go around with a cup and magnifying glass to investigate every water sample to figure out that water molecules are composed of the same elements and have the same general structure, one does not first need to experience every community in Nigeria to realize that the patterns across most all of them are pretty much the same. If you claim there exists an island somewhere were the water is completely different, please let know of it so we can investigate to learn the truth of it. undecided

Next questions! undecided

A deeply emotional and chilling scene played out during a burial ceremony as a grieving mother made a heartbreaking yet unusual plea to her deceased son. In a viral video that has since stirred conversations online, the mother can be seen placing a knife and a broom inside her son's coffin, issuing a tearful instruction for him to avenge his death from beyond the grave. shocked

Surrounded by mourners and sympathizers, the woman—visibly shattered by the loss—stood over the lifeless body of her son, who laid quietly in his casket. With each word, pain echoed in her voice as she called on his spirit to rise and deal with whoever might be responsible for his untimely ing.

According to the report, the mother strongly believes that her son did not die a natural death and suspects foul play. Her symbolic act—placing the knife and broom—has deep traditional roots in certain African cultures, where such items are believed to aid the spirit in carrying out posthumous justice.

Her son is death and the person responsible is probably out there roaming free and probably happy. She is allowed to grieve as she wants but this public display of obvious cowardice. This attempt that pretends the dead can be made responsible for obtaining justice they require in the land of the living should be condemned for the farce that it is. undecided

U only say so because you never witnessed it...

Again, those saying its real are not all dumb illiterates you know...

Speaking of "facts" do you know that it's fact for a man born in the 20th century, that this has been the actual taste of the current Titus fish/coca cola in the market...to such a man, it's a fact! But to the older men, they know exactly what has changed and I hope you would agree with me that it is never their responsibility to open the head of a 20th generation man and stick the difference in there...if they got a spare time, they would just notify the later. There is nothing they can do to change the "facts " such a 20th generation man wields.

What do you know....about the dead..?
Have you died and resurrected before ?

Have been to the land of the dead briefly..yes me

Take it from me that they are active on your case as progenitors to ancestors

Nothing about what I know is important. It’s about what I believe.
I believe in the Bible and the God of the Bible who created life and who allows death.
The Bible is very clear about the condition and hope of the dead.
See the following ages as examples:

1. Ecclesiastes 9:5-6,10: For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten. Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they no longer have any share in what is done under the sun. Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might, for there is no work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the Grave, where you are going.

Ecclesiastes 8:8: Just as no man has power over the spirit or can restrain the spirit, so no one has power over the day of death. Just as no one is discharged during a war, so wickedness will not allow those who practice it to escape.

Psalms 104:29: When you hide your face, they are disturbed. If you take away their spirit, they die and return to the dust.

Psalms 146:3-6: Do not put your trust in princes Nor in a son of man, who cannot bring salvation. His spirit goes out, he returns to the ground; On that very day his thoughts perish. Happy is the one who has the God of Jacob as his helper, Whose hope is in Jehovah his God, The Maker of heaven and earth, Of the sea, and of all that is in them, The One who always remains faithful.

The dead simply become dust or manure - Psalms 22:15. Proverbs 2:18 describes them as powerless or impotent.

So you need not fear the dead. Fear of the dead is promoted by Satan, who lied to Eve, telling her and in extension all humans, you will not die if you disobey God. He promotes this fear by using demons who mimic dead people through spiritism.
It is this fear of the dead that drive many into costly burial rituals for their dead loved ones.

The truth though is that the dead are powerless to themselves and to the living.

God through the resurrection of Christ set out the hope life again to the dead. So Jesus could say in John 5:28,29: Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.

If you have got any counter opinions, please share and back it up with reliable sources.

How you discredit people's submissions is utterly sickening. You simply can share your doubts and allow the person prove further.
it doesn't work. Dead people can't do anything. If dead people could avenge their death countries like UK, USA, , Japan, Israel etc won't exist. Those countries were developed on top the bones of millions of people they killed. The generals that masterminded the slaughterings went on to become governors, kings, presidents etc

Waste of effort and a sin. Does she similar things done during Dele Giwa's burial? What has come out of those? - nothing. The dead can't help themselves, only God can. Rest your case with God. Physical death is not the end of the world.
May he rest in peace and may God comfort his family and forgive their ignorance. Amen
