No fewer than ten people lost their lives to jungle justice in Edo State while plying one of the roads in Uromi Local Government Area.

It was gathered that the hunters, who were thought to be kidnappers, were coming from River state to Kano state when they were attacked by a mob.

Eye witness stated that the hunters were stopped by vigilantes on a normal stop and search. In the cause of their search they found guns, machete, dog and other personal belongings.

Issues escalated when residents of Uromi accused the hunters of being kidnappers. The mob bounced on the suspects and set them ablaze.

The situation got out of hand and was left uncontrolled until all the suspects were burnt beyond recognition.

Security operatives later got the scene of the incident but it was too late to save any suspects from the angry mob.

The deceased bodies have been evacuated from the scene of the incident and investigation have been launched.

Jungle justice remains a tragic failure of our justice system and society. Innocent or guilty, no one deserves to be killed without due process.

We must promote awareness and strengthen law enforcement to prevent such senseless acts.

Two wrongs don't make a right!

If you say that the govt has failed woefully, apcshit attack dogs will come for you. These people should have been handed over to the appropriate authority for proper investigation to determine if they were actual hunters or not. Who knows, innocent people might have just been wasted.

This is one avoidable death… At least they should have things before taking actions.

Why will Northerners come to the south with guns and weapons if it is not guns? It will be machetes and daggers, Amotekun caught a lot of them with weapons like that and sent them back but not everywhere will be like the south west, when did you ever see a southerner parading the north with weapons? and since when is moving around with weapons legal in this country ?

Even the topic here is misleading. It said they were found with guns. It is only after reading they were found to be hunters.

The Aluu 4 comes to mind, where 4 young students were murdered by a mob because a debtor lied that they came to rob him because one of them was owed money and he came with his friends to collect his money.

Someone has lied and ten persons have died.

Please, avoid misinformation and disinformation because it can trigger a crisis.

We'd appeal to the families of those murdered not to retaliate, as this is what those spreading misinformation desire.

Law enforcement needs to round up those who carried out this murder, carry out speedy trial and mete out deserved justice. It is the least they can do.

The Edo state government must pay apppropriate compensation to the families of those murdered and send a delegation to the affected states to mitigate a crisis.

Your problem is poverty and lack of exposure.

People fly over thousands of miles to go hunt in vast forests.
People travel from the South South to participate in the Argungu fishing festival in Kebbi.
