Bigots will always be bigots do any of them have the courage in such a tense military environment to go against the wish of the military at that time? Some of them that even claimed to be in the front line of the june 12 struggle like tinibu didn't even have the courage to face the military here in nigeria they have to run away to other countries.
Good.
So in what capacity will d 'posthumous award' be justified seeing that he cowardly refused to announce the election result as at when due because of the "fear of the military" then?

This is what Nnamdi Kanu has been saying all along about Igbos thinking that Nigeria is one, IBB the man who gleefully annulled the election from the North is now being celebrated with Tinubu who claimed to be in the trenches leading the charge to raise billions of Naira for him at his book launch while the man whom even IBB said in his book that he was book amazed at his exceptional courage is now being vilified because of the part of the country he hails from, meanwhile June 12 will be celebrated as "Democracy Day" because Humphrey Nwosu insisted on holding election that day in 1993.
Nigeria we hail thee

It is you igbos that is celebrating IBB... Not yorubas.... You igbos

Without Nwosu, nobody would be talking about June 12th today

He insisted on conducting that elections when attempts were made to stop it

He went court to have the elections results stand

He tendered the election results in court and they became public documents, which is even how MKO knew he won

Without Nwosu, there would have been no June 12th

Did Nwosu put a gun on Babangida's head to conduct the election by force? Do you know how many times Babangida postponed the elections before he finally agreed to the june 12 date? Without Nwosu June 12 will still hold because Babangida will simply get another top NEC commissioner to handle the election. Stop glorifying an idiot coward. I ed when Jega was about to announce the results of the 2015 presidential elections and one PDP HOR member i forgot his name, was shouting at Jega to intimidate him. The inec chairman was just looking at the guy like a mad man. I'm not comparing that situation to military rule but check history very well. Some brave people stood up against the military despite incarceration and death threats. Nwosu was a bloody coward like ojukwu and kanu all running away from battle.

Humphrey Nwosu was remarkable considering that his idea of option A4 made Abiola possible. With Option A4 Humphrey Nwosu beat the army generals in their game. Without Option A4 there will be no stolen mandate in the first place. So, Humphrey has his place in history as the man who created a flawless electoral process that sent the army back to their barracks. I know that history will him; even place him higher in time to come. He is immortalized already.

But he went ahead with the election as against IBB wish, then why couldn't he announce the results as against IBB wish?. If he was a coward as you put it, then why must he be immortalized?

This one is still talking. So sad for this country. All the protests led by this man were for his own selfish interests. He was simply pretending to be on the people's side. At the end, he was sitting on government's side negotiating minimum wage with organized labor.

Nobody wants to talk now. When this man dies, then many will find their tongues.
This man has no right to judge Nwosu even if Nwosu is evil. He is worse than the Prof.

Ohhhh let me ask you if HN was a Yoruba man will you be saying this? You guys are serious bigots walahi.

i have said it tens of times on this forum, I don't do tribe, I don't care about your tribe or my tribe or anyone's tribe. Tribe is not the issue on ground but unfortunately, the South East politicians have made it a serious milking issue because they obviously have their sins cleansed using this. i don't care if he, or you or anyone is given a national honour or has a building named after. My point remains that politicians should not using tribalism to cover up themselves. Making a former electoral chairman honoured should have nothing to do with tribe but merit. National honour is not by quota and should not be.
Why is a senator(s) coming with the he's from South East, honour him vibe? How many people have been honoured nationally this way? It is the executive's role, not something to vote in the national assembly. Why bringing it up in the NA as something from the South East? What have you done as a region to honour him, while he was alive and after? Why do you think that everything has to be about where you come from? Has the region named a school, hospital, road, or even street after him? Even if it is a WhatsApp group.

Humphrey Nwosu is No Hero – Let’s Be Honest

Honoring Humphrey Nwosu in the same breath as MKO Abiola is an insult to history.

After Abacha died, MKO Abiola died—a clear signal that forces beyond Nwosu were at play. But in moments where great men stand up to cement their legacy, Nwosu remained silent.

He had one duty: affirm that MKO won fair and square. He didn’t.

Why?
• Fear of IBB? Maybe.
• Pressure from the military? Likely.
• But history only re the bold, not the cautious.

Compare Him to True Heroes

Today, we have INEC commissioners risking their lives to declare results under threats, some even at gunpoint, yet standing firm.
• Some have lost their lives for announcing the rightful winners.
• Nwosu had none of that courage.

Senator Abaribe’s Calls for Immortalization? Nothing to See Here.

He was just a civil servant. He did his job—but nothing extra.
• He didn’t fight for justice.
• He didn’t push against the annulment.
• He didn’t defend the mandate of the people.

Greatness is defined by what you do when it matters most.

Humphrey Nwosu is no hero.
He was just a bureaucrat who stayed within the lines.
so he didn't say it?. You are being beclouded by ethnic jingoism not to have known what the man said. Continue

A lot of the innovations Prof. Nwosu introduced then are what has been built on today, though the apc has made 'valiant' efforts to destroy those innovations.

There is nothing bad if the INEC headquarters is renamed Prof. Humphrey Nwosu building...

This life is sometimes give and take.

IBB and his boys were so mean..oo!
Anyhow you look at it,Prof Nwosu really try his best. This thing is not as easy as you and Oshomole think.Imagine you being surrounded by IBB military boys who only hear GO without hearing COME asking you at gunpoint not to announce the remaining states again.
If you were him, what will you do?

Even at that, the man still managed to publish the remaining states results on the board at the national collation center and called a pool of journalists to cover it which they all published the entire results of the 30 states of the federation in their different news outlets before he finally escaped for his dear life.

That's why earlier this year, when IBB published his so called book of history, the full results of that election prepared by Nwosu were flying around in every media space.
Infact,it was his courage to even publish the whole results that made Abiola himself and other Nigerians know he won the election.

Yes,he couldn't make official declaration of the results because of how brutal and terrible the then military regime was,but at least,he mustered courage to do a publication of the full results for the press and the entire country to know the winner.
So the man deserves his flower.
You said he was an ordinary civil servant doing his normal job. That he didn't do anything extraordinary to deserve recognition.
So tell me,the IBB that annulled the election, what did he do extraordinary that he now got immortalized?
Was the annulment an extraordinary thing you are talking about?
Also, the tyrant called Abacha that arrested and jailed MKO that won the election until he died in his custody which has been immortalized today, what extraordinary thing did he do during that election?
Arresting and jailing the winner and truncating democracy is now extraordinary thing deserving immortalization that result publication by Nwosu even at gunpoint?
You and Adam are displaying double standards as far as this sensitive issue of June 12 is concerned.
You people should have spoken strongly just as you are doing to Nwosu now against the naming of any critical infrastructure after Abacha and IBB because of the ignoble roles they played as far as the June 12 saga is concerned.
But no, you and Adams Oshomole kept quiet when some national assets were used to immortalized the two military despots.

When IBB dies, it’s only a matter of time before many of the streets and institutions named after him are renamed. It might not happen immediately, but within 10-20 years, as Nigeria moves forward, the narrative will shift. The country today is not the same as it was under military rule—people are no longer intimidated by figures like IBB.

As for Nwosu, he was likely in IBB’s pocket. He probably profited from the regime, but we all know how fleeting that kind of wealth can be. You can’t take the devil’s money and then expect to be hailed as a hero. If you make deals with corruption, don’t seek redemption later.
