VO: Have you travelled out before? ( I noticed he flipped through my port to see my stamps. I have several stamps since i have travelled severally outside nigeria.
Me: Yes. ( , spain, Sweden , UK, I also schooled in the UK.

VO: What course did you study:
Me: Petroleum Eng.

VO: Where do you work:
Me: XXXXXXX. As a XXxxxxxX.

VO: How long av you worked with them?
Me: 6 months.

VO: Where else have u worked as a xxxxxxx ?
Me: XXXxxxx., and xxxxxx.

VO: DO you have kids:

My Advice. I noticed a lot of people seem not well prepared for the interview. they answered and talked too much trying to convince the VO.
I noticed people who talk so much trying to defend your case without being asked were refused. So talk less and answer their questions only with very little elaboration.
Your travel history is very important to them and they asked almost everyone that same question. (Where else have you travvlled to ? ).

They just asked me where i was going, who I'm going to see, why I'm going, and previous travel history (i have a good travel history)

I'm sure they just wanted to confirm that my answers are the same with the answers from the interview i had in december.

My mum’s visa was approved yesterday in Lagos, and it still feels surreal. This was her second attempt we applied for B2 visa category for her and unlike the first time, everything happened so quickly. We got to the embassy, and in less than 20 minutes, she was done.

Here’s how the conversation went:

VO: Good morning.
Mum: Good morning! How are you doing?
VO:Why are you traveling to the U.S.?
Mum: To visit my daughter, she just had a baby.

I made payment for my B1/B2 visa renewal in December 2024, and followed the instructions on the portal, which directed me to the OIS website to schedule a drop-off date. I selected a date in January 2025 on OIS only, showing I met all eligibility requirements for the Dropbox option. However, upon traveling to Lagos for the dropoff, I was denied entry at the OIS facility and informed that I needed to book a Dropbox date on AVITS instead—contrary to the instructions I received during my application process. While I was there, one of the ladies advised I try to log on and 9 can see a date to pick - due to the rush and all, I think I’m error selected January 2026 as date for drop-off.

I tried creating several tickets but no specific response, just vague responses. So, I cancelled the appointment, hoping I can change to Abuja. Now, I’m unable to select any date with no reschedule option - just expedited request option available.

Can I delete the and create a new one to pay another MRV fee hoping the drop off option shows this time around?

I do not understand the first part of your question but regarding the other 2 questions — she can list your address. She can explain that she will secure accommodation close to her school when she arrives and this is why she listed your address. Regarding the third question , they probably told her why she was refused. Based on the reasoning given to most folks, it is likely that she wasn’t able to demonstrate strong home ties, hence the refusal. She can also tell them she can’t if she truly can’t .

I received an email that the embassy rescheduled my interview by a week. Do I still need to print another appointment confirmation letter, cause when I logged in and clicked on it, the page doesn't come up

I have a concern about my application. I scheduled an appointment for a family of 4 last year February. My interview is now few weeks away. But my wife will not be going for the interview because she is pregnant.
I tried rescheduling her interview for later date after delivery, but I couldn't access the calendar on Avits platform. Anytime I click on reschedule it tells me that "you do not have active receipt for this application/applicant".
I messaged Avits desk for help, they replied that the visa receipt has expired, that I need to make a new visa fee payment for her and schedule a fresh appointment. So I don't understand why my visa receipt will be expired when we have neither gone for an interview nor reschedule an appointment previously.
Kindly advise on how I can proceed. Thanks.

Your receipt is more than a year. If you cancel your appointment , you will need a new receipt. If she is not showing, she can go for the interview and not use the visa for child birth if thats what she is worried about

Hello, has anyone had to change date of birth after visa interview.

[Thanks for your response. We feel that if she s the rest of the family for the interview, that the chances of visa approval for others will be slim because of the pregnancy.

Hi Guys, does anyone know what the timeline for receiving port back when using Dropbox interview waiver?

I had an appointment for April 1st for Dropbox in Abuja and they rescheduled to the 7th so I rescheduled to Lagos for the 3rd of April. I am renewing my F1 visa and I am just wondering how many days on average it would take to get my port back after submitting on the 3rd.

this your story isn't not clear, no way you would hv booked benin-dhl pickup..paid the 58k for it, and it would magically change to abuja-maitama pickup.

knowing how the ois page is setup..once u hv paid for dhl pickup...it doesn't give you any option to change it.
and the info on the avits page says ur port will be returned to us embassy if you don't collect it withing 1 month or so.......so either arrange for proxy pickup, or u head to abuja to pick it up urself

Good day house, please I need help. First time applicant

i went to make MRV payment at the First bank and the applicant surname field on the portal was auto populated with my first name & last name. The bank staff advised me to initiate a new request on the AVITS portal, which I did by cancelling the initial request.

However after starting again, it now its says duplicate applicant found for error. I check my profile and saw I have 2 applicant ID, but it’s giving me option to proceed and make payment. I have written and they say they have escalated it, I don’t know how long I will have to wait for them.

Can I go ahead and make payment? I don’t want to make error. Thanks in advance

Good day all. This Avits really confuses me and I need help. Firstly my previous visa expired April 5th 2024 so I still qualify for IW. Payment has been made and waiver questions answered. However, for almost a week it keeps showing "pending appointment request", which when I click on shows no available dates. Is that normal response not to see any dates for Dropbox? Secondly, when I click on appointments in my dashboard, it shows below it "print appointment letter", when I try clicking on it, it tells me I have pending requests. I just want to know if I am doing the right thing and what else I can do. Thank you
