Your sizeable pv gets ur battery full in minutes but no load to run. Infact you hardly hit 13.1v and as such your battery stays in an unhealthy voltage for months thereby depreciating its lifespan.

Size up satisfactorily out of want and need if you chose to.

I noticed a word used here mostly and it is CARRY.

each sharp solar of 200w is about 180k and the morningstar ts-45 charge controller is about 60k.

for your 2.5kva inverter, assuming your using 2 batteries of 12v/200ah you will need a minimum 2pcs of these type of modules to enjoy.

See how solar cost back in the day. 200w for 180k in 2010

My question is about solar generator. I have 1 million naira to set up solar for my 2 beds. Just to power 43' TV, inverter fridge, 2 fans, decoder, phone charging and light bulbs. I'm in love with Ecoflow Delta 2 with 1kwh. Do you advise me to go with it or just set up conventional solar set up? From my calculations, I'll not be drawing more than 400w during the day, which a jinko 600w penel will give me during the day and I'll use the charge in the night.

In essence live within your means?

Solar is addictive shar, you will always want more. I will always advise everyone, if you can, go straight to 48v! It really becomes demoralising when you start at 12v and need to upgrade in the future.

Series for lfp isn’t so common like flooded lead acid, so it’s best to start at 48v. Worst case, 24v but only if absolutely necessary.


48v less current, less heat, less space needed for scaling up.

Anything lower than 48v, more current, heat, thicker gauge cables etc

Besides most BMS cap at 200A which is just 2400w for 12v and 4,800w for 24v. But whopping 9,600w for 48v! Imagine the headroom for multiple surge appliances.

Evs now use 400v minimum as standard and large scale solar installations utilise high voltage systems.

So I really think for residential RE applications, 48v is the sweet spot.

That is the thing as you hardly go straight to 48v starting bc it is not cheap.

This more cable of a thing is overly exaggerated though.

Certain things are just left private than public. In this solar journey, everyone gat his style.

Go for what works best.

But which will you go for between 200ah 12v and 48v 50ah?

If I’m an installer, I would rather source for the items myself. I would most likely already have reliable dealers with established business relationship. This comes in very handy when warranty issues or product issues of any kind come up.

If I’m a seller, I will most likely have a recommended installer. If you choose to use any other installer, I must confirm the installation job that was done in other to honour any warranty or product related issues.

Everybody loves the cheap inexpensive way, but , cheap things are usually more costly in the long run!

Deye, sunsyk, jinko etc same OEM

Srne, sungold etc same OEM

Growatt, Felicity, yohako, solis etc all unique and seems they don’t do OEMs.

Voltronic axpert also does OEM for various other inverters.

You have spoken well.The first question is what is your need? Do you require to be totally off grid or just enough watts hour to avoid using generator.

For me now I am not totally off grid. I enjoy 16- 18 hours of power supply and just need enough to power me all through the night to avoid using generator in the event of no power.

You are very correct.I I started with 1kva 12v.Everyone started small except the big boys .I just upgraded to a 48v and got a 48v50ah LFP since the set up is primarily to power my fridge and freezer and occasionally microwave when there is no power. Now I still dey find money to get either a 36v or 24v LFP to power all other things as it was before the upgrade
