Hello, I’m trying to schedule an appointment using the AVITS portal. I already made payment after which I clicked on Pending appointment and entered the required information and clicked submit. When I click on the submit button, nothing happens. Can someone please guide me on what to do after making an online payment. How do I start with the search if an appointment date.

Thank you

Look at the right corner of oyur page whenever you click submit. If it is not going you will see an error message. That will guide your next step.

Was it returned with a 221g?
jokepearl:

Actually, the port was initially returned due to the port photograph being deemed too old. My mum retrieved the port and resubmitted a new set of photos. The status changed to approved three days after the new photos were submitted.

Good afternoon all, I mistakenly rescheduled a visa date from July 2025 to April 2026 and that’s the last attempt. I need to pay a new visa fee for same applicant, how do I go about it? Do I need to cancel current appointment before I make payment? Also how much is the visa fee in naira?
AdisaMighty: 5:22pm On Mar 08
How did this go? In your shoes.
Adaeze24:

They ed me about 10days after my first interview to come in for a follow-up interview. I didnt get any 2219 slip or anything. infact after my first interview the officer told me my visa was approved. Only to get a mail to come in for a follow-up. In the mail I wasn't asked to bring anything to the embassy, just the mail inviting me to come for a follow-up.

Hello, @anyone
Please, is it okay to pay for two people together on one AVITS portal , or should each individual have a separate AVITS ?
Thanks.

It was a successful outcome guys. Thanks so much for your smiley smiley

And also a big thank you to all the people dropping travel tips on Nairaland on a daily basis without expecting anything in return; without even expecting thank you. You guys are MVPs.

I started getting visas after taking my time to go through other people's experiences through Nairaland posts. And utilising tips dropped by different people.

The questions centred on the event I ed and going for in the US.

VO: port pls

Self: Good morning! (With a high pitch and smile)

VO: Purpose of intended travel to the US

Self: To participate at **** event.

VO: Have you participated at a similar event in other countries before?

Self: yes, in 2024 in Europe, 2023 in Europe and 2022 in South Africa.

VO: is that the only thing you'll be doing?

Self: No, after my event, I'll do some sightseeing and will visit my Sister for few days in another state.

VO: What do you do for a living?

Self: I work at so and so.

VO: Continues long typing and looking at PC

VO: Are you married and do you have children?

Self: Yes, married with 3 kids. I gave the VO their ages, and told her I'm traveling alone for now.

VO: I'll be issuing your visa.

Self: Thank you very much 😊 I quickly carried my load and ran off before they change their mind.

NB
First time applicant to the US. Though I've been to Europe a couple of times.

Paid in Sept 24, initially got June date, but kept searching till I got March 2025.

Observations: A couple of Babcock students were there on a study/work exchange, they were all given except 1 guy. Felt so sad for him. If one has the means, expose your children to International trips early enough. A number of the successful ones had travel history.

I studied the VOs and quickly queued behind the one with a smile and that I noticed approved Visas for 3 of those Babcock students.

I noticed some peoples answers were too short and they were too rigid. In my own case, I added some humor about my event and made the VO laugh.

Thank you to everyone always sharing their updates here; it is always useful. I just want to share my experience in case there is anyone with a B1/B2 visa and wants to have their baby in the US. With different stories flying around, I wasn't sure what to expect at the point of entry.

I travelled at 33 weeks and had printed all the documents; medical report from my Nigerian hospital, appointment from the USA hospital, Bank statement showing funds to sponsor the trip and I came in through JFK - Delta Airlines. There were no questions asked in Nigeria though I wore a free gown so you might not know I was pregnant.

When I got to the consular at the point of entry in the USA, the first question was How long are you staying? I said 3months. He looked up and said 3months?Why? I said I am here to have my baby. He looked at me and said why do I want to have the baby here?I said due to my medical history of multiple miscarriages. He just said give me a few minutes. He locked his window and stepped out; came back 5mins later and asked if I already have an appointment here;I said Yes and gave him the appointment letter and my medical report from my Nigerian hospital. He asked me to follow him for a secondary investigation.

We got to the office; quite a number of people there so you just wait till they call you to ask questions and give a verdict. I waited for about 45mins/1hr before they eventually called me.I however noticed they had been picking the file; once they see birth tourism, they just dropped it till one of their supervisors asked one of them to act on it.

She asked me all the questions.!!! Why USA?I told her I had always come in for vacation. She said she cant find the records; I told her to check. Unfortunately, I had just renewed my port with my husband's name and didnt have the old port with me. She just said okay. Asked how much the hospital gave me as estimated bill; I said 15k dollars and I have about 40k dollars in the Bank of America/Chase bank s. She said how was I able to send funds?I said my sister. She didnt look convinced but she moved on. She then asked if I had cash; I said just 300 dollars but I have funds in naira and also in my card .

She asked if I had a return ticket; I said Yes and I have a good job back in Nigeria. Collected my work ID. Wrote down all these information. Got up to ask the first supervisor that I had funds to self pay but with Trump, she wasnt sure and the supervisor said if she can pay,Why not?Allow her. She saw her second supervisor and asked him the approach he took for the last birth tourism he attended to and that one said, if they can afford it,why not.Just let them know Trump has this ongoing case on it. I even thought she would stamp only 3months but she stamped 6months B2 and was now nice. Please sit on another comfortable chair; I wont delay you further;I just want to be sure bla bla bla.

They almost denied a woman when she said she came for medical checkup but hadnt booked an appointment. But her son stays here and her visa showed she stayed a while the last time so I guess they just let her go. I think what is important is your ability to show that you can self pay your bills.

All the best everyone!

Hi, how did your mom's interview go? What questions did they ask her? My mum has her own interview next month, so I want to have an idea of what they might ask. Thanks.

From my experience, no, you have an appointment booked already. I think that applies if you only made payment without booking appointment. In my case, I applied and paid in sept 2022 and i got an appointment for dec 2024, which was successful. So i would say you are ok.

Dear ALL,

Many thanks to all the contributors for your invaluable information on this thread.

Please I'd like to receive guidance regarding Visa application fee paid in June 2023. At the time the earliest appointment date I was able to get was for May 2025, and I scheduled my appointment accordingly. I have however seen some posts which state that Visa application fee is valid for one (1) year from date of payment. In view of this, do I have have to pay another Visa application fee before going for my interview? Thanks for your anticipated response/s.

Goodmorning
Please I need an advice.
My self and 2 of my kids were granted our visas in Dec 2024. We applied way back 2022 and our appointment was dec 2024. I had a baby in September 2024 and couldn't add him to the application. I had to wait till ours was successful before I started his application. So I got a date for March 17 for his interview or to show him because he is only 6months old. But the venue is in Lagos and I live in abuja. We are supposed to travel for summer for my sisters wedding. Now on avits website, it's showing Cancel appointment and pending appointment, what does that mean?
Will like to know because now I have to travel to lagos just for this interview.
And again when I filled his ds160, everything in it says abuja. Does him submitting in lagos affect anything?

Hello everyone,

Is there anyone here that knows someone that went for Non-immigrant interview at US embassy on Tuesday March 4th this year? My mum went for interview but asked to go back home because their system was down. According to her, the embassy only attend to immigrant visa applicants. I want to know how long it will take embassy to reschedule her for another date. Or anyone here knows what I should?

If your visa type is F1 no need to pay another MRV just coz you can reschedule. JUst request for EA when it is 60 days to your program start date but if it is not F1 then you might have to pay another MRV if you want a closer date. You will need a new AVITS with another email for the new MRV.

Does he need to cancel the existing appointment before proceeding to pay for another one because I’m in the same situation and it’s visiting visa. Thank you

To pay new visa fee while having a pending application what do I do. I mistakenly rescheduled to April 2026 that’s my last attempt though and the event I’m going for is in June 2025, I need to pay new visa fee and I’m in Nigeria, the card option may not work for me so do I need to cancel the current appointment before making the new payment? Also after paying in first bank what’s the next thing to do?

Hello everyone. I have a question about my visa interview in about 3months time. I filled my DS160 form around March last year and my intended travel date was August 2024 for tourism and sightseeing, however when I made payment for the visa fee and tried to book an appointment date, the earliest I could get was June 2025. My question is do I have to fill a new DS160 form since the intended travel date has ed. If yes, how do I it such that the DS160 application number tallies with what is on my appointment confirmation letter?

NB; I have been successfully migrated to the AVITS platform
