5 for the youth and 5 for our backwardness as a nation with some details and solutions.

Our backwardness as a nation

1. Corrupt politicians (Our present senators) are a distraction

2. Corrupt law enforcers are distractions

3. The judicial system is a distraction

4. Religion is a distraction, when Peter Obi said we should have night shifts instead of Night vigils, he was correct

5. The type of Education our country offers is book based, it's a great destiny killer

SOLUTIONS

1. A president like Putin or the China president is needed but we don't really have the system

2. If there are enough jobs, only those who are ionate about law enforcement will be law enforcers

3. We should adopt and adapt native laws and customs

4. Religion should be curtailed and censored if possible, those churches and mosque should be turned to factories and warehouses.

5. We should focus on informal education or skill acquisition because joblessness will is breeding a terribly backward generation

Thanks

shocked

This is gonna be a long read. No proofreading... One take.

While I wait for my turn to fetch water in this stream, let me approach this like a warrior who just took over power from these present political vampires.

5 Greatest Distractions for Nigerian Youth

1. Tribalism and Religion:
The reason I'm grouping these two together is that often times, their strength lies in the beliefs held by the populace. Although, I can argue that in some cases religion doesn't really hold much weight compared to ethnicity but however we still have these biases (embedded in us by our parents) in us.

The easiest way to destroy a Nigerian revolution from within, is using tribalism. Yes, we marry ourselves but deep inside, we are still humans — not just humans, but an artificial geographical creation. I said "humans," because as human beings, we are more likely to feel comfortable amongst people we share similarities with. Even in the smallest 'nation' in a society—family—siblings still fight brutally let alone a country with hundreds of ethnicities. Even within the Igbo people, there are "groups" large enough to be a nation.

The solution? I believe it's okay to be conservative and still be open enough to work with others. It's okay to compromise to reach a favorable agreement with other ethnicities. So you can be proudly Hausa, want your own nation, and still willing to work with the other ethnicities. We have to accept our identity, and still be willing to work together just like the Europeans have done.

2. Delusions:
When I say "delusions," I'm talking about:
a. Educational system
b. Social media
c. Addictions
d. Environment

The "educational system" comprises of everything that make up the way we think e.g school, church, family belief, etc... they all play a role on how our mind are groomed. Our schools do nothing but stick to an archaic and foreign system, we do not go extra miles to give us the right mindset needed to build a nation. How is the importance of a clean society not being radically promoted in schools? Why do we feel comfortable throwing away trash in public? This is just a simple example.

I have no doubt that the internet is a blessing, without it, I'd be broken and more helpless than I am. However, it has also become a rabbit hole that our youths would rather bury their head in, than use it to dig up gold. Social media has become our battlefield while our enemies work tirelessly on and off the internet. I don't do social media (except WhatsApp for biz, which I already made inactive for almost a month)I can't when I actively did with full attention like a typical Nigerian youth. I feel like it has become a safe haven to drown in rivers of dopamine. No doubt, social media is revolutionary but we must learn to use them wisely.

Addictions might seem irrelevant but the power they hold cannot be underestimated. There are millions of youths who are now complete zombies due to some of these addictions. We need to reassess our lives and start asking ourselves the right questions. People would rather drown in alcohol, drugs, porn, etc, than do anything about the reality around them. They have become a perfect place to escape our reality and forget about the fact that our future is slowly being sucked away.

Our environment is also another factor under the "educational system." We are heavily influenced by the media, our parents, friends, obstacles, and so on. If these "environmental elements" surrounding us constantly draw our attention away from things we should actually be focusing on, we might never focus on them.

3. Get Rich Quick Schemes:
We are constantly distracted by all of these stupid ways to get Rich Quick. We can not focus on the legal ways, so we end up creating more problems for ourselves — especially if they end up backfiring. This is the same thing that is happening to Nigeria. We keep chasing irrelevant BS while the real problems keeps on compiling.

4. Unnecessary Entertainment:
I think I will categorize bloodsucking relationships and friendships under this one. Many of us are stuck in some BS that aren't benefitting us or building our mindset, it could be social media arguments, stupid debates and fights... We are also spending time with people who do nothing but suck up our positive energy. I had to end a relationship because of this, yes, I was in control but I have learned to obey my instincts. Ever since then, the little peace I was managing has returned. We are also trying to entertain ourselves 24/7, we compare ourselves with other youths from other "races" whose ancestors have fought to make their future bright. Rather than do the same for our descendants, we spend time on nonsense, it gets more saddening when you see stupid youths drowning in worthless violence like cultism.

5. Consuming gimme gimme mindset
It's quite similar to the educational system but I think it needs to be addressed. We rather take and take than give. We rather import and import than export. You must be thinking: so, how's that a distraction? The thing is, with this kind of mindset, we would rather focus on irrelevant stuffs because we know we can easily take from others. With this mindset, we think it's okay to steal from others just to take, it's okay to produce nothing as long as you can buy it anyway with money.

I can go on and on... I do believe that these distractions are the same obstacles that hinder Nigeria. It's time to get back to work. If we can fix the brain of the youth, we can fix this geographical location.

5 greatest distractions for youths

Social Media; Tiktok, X, Instagram, Facebook

Sex; Self explanatory

Celeb lifestyle: Burna promise lambo for knacks, Actress buy Ferrari, this one sextape leak, this one get frog voice, this one dey owe money, this one do BBL, e.t.c

Big brother naija; once a year show that promotes immorality. This is worse because even kids dey argue BBN

Sports; Ronaldo vs Messi, Madrid vs Barca, Chelsea vs Man united

Gambling; get rich quick scheme

Drugs; NDLEA should put in more efforts to curb access to drugs.

The possible solution is to regulate social media, which I won't lie, would be very difficult because Nigerians would find a way around it
Also, our politicians don't mind because they can use these to distract the youths from important issues. BBN should be banned. Sports can't be banned, celeb lifestyle would always be in our faces cos of social media. Sex Hmmmn story for another day.

5 greatest hindrances to Nigeria

Tribalism
Religion
Overpopulation
Illiteracy
Politics aka bad/corrupt leaders
Corruption
Insecurity
Poor education
Poor social welfare
Bad healthcare
Unemployment

Omor e choke

I won't lie, I don't think there's a solution to the aformentioned. The foundation of Nigeria is very shaky and faulty. Our issues are very deep rooted.

Improve our educational system, make basic education compulsory for every child thereby reducing rate of illiteracy.

Educate people on family planning which would be hard to do in the north because of the poverty rate. The poor men use sex to find joy. Also religion plays a huge role here.

Tribalism?? Divide the country maybe

Corruption; change our constitution, change the system of governance, cut overspending. Hold our leaders able.

Insecurity; Cut the head of the snake, fish out those funding and benefitting from insecurity. After that, bomb the foot soldiers to hell. I don't rehabilitation of bandits or terrorists or kidnappers.

Poor healthcare; A complete overhaul of our hospitals and also put measures in place that would encourage our doctors and nurses not to japa. Create a favourable working environment.

Unemployment; This is inevitable in a country with high population and one which imports more than it exports. Become more of an exporting economy an see unemployment reduce.

What do you think are the 5 greatest distractions for Nigerian youths

and

5 greatest distractions or hindrance why Nigeria is still backward?

You mean what distracts Nigeria's younger generations? Mine is just 3

✓ Technology (smart Phones and related gadgets): It means everything for a typical Nigerian youth as it houses all sorts of Social Medias platforms. They can spend at least 4 hours daily on these gadgets instead of other important things.

✓ Entertainment/music/sport industries: Unnecessary irations, disputes, comparisons, arguments, fighting and even killing on someone they might not even meet physically in their life. Their luxury lifestyle is something Nigerian youth also crave for. Calculate the distractions caused here.

✓ Blaming their leaders: They made up their mind to believe that their future is no more, it has since been sold out by their great great grand leaders, so nothing like:
no pain no gain,
no gut no glory stuff 🤧

You mean reasons Nigeria is still not developing? You can get 5 here.

✓ Discovery of oil: We stopped commercial agriculture. Agriculture is everything.
✓ Corruption/failed judicial systems: with my wealth and riches, I can go scott free from all Offenses
✓ Politics. It's a do or die self centered affair. It's not for the people.
✓ Big brother mentality: we are quick to extend our hand to help the neighborhood while as we are in a dare state of need.

✓ Inferiority complex/Effect of colonialism: We don't believe we can rule ourselves/white man's service is the best.

NB
Ethnicity is never the problem of Nigeria. Any tribe can live anywhere in Nigeria. We have seen Nnamdi Azikwe, Herbert Macaulay, Tafawa Balewa and their likes.

Same thing to Religion: No religion preaches to its people not to be nationalists, Patriots, or innovative. We have seen Italy and UAE. It's a personal choice not to be productive or act backwards.

How do we tackle these?
Do/think/act reversely to what was said up there.
CaveAdullam: 10:55pm On Mar 09
1. Gambling

Solution: an enabling environment for skill training and earning.

2. Excessive social media consumption.

Solution: engagement in productive work.

3. Debauchery.

Solution: values and virtues should be announced and rewarded consistently.

4. Presence of multiple and confusing information. You get distracted when trying to filter for what you want.

Solution: leaders in all successful spheres of life should be poised to offer a clear road map for achievement.

5. Religion

Faith is a distraction but also a source of strength and courage.

Solution: Encourage them to vividly understand their scriptural texts and history. Because everything they know about religion is pure, utter, unadulterated lies and falsehood.

And for the nation Nigeria:

1. Inability to access and understand our comparative advantage.

Solution: find where our strength lies and leverage it.

2. Poor infusion of technology into manufacturing and industry.

Solution: be diplomatic with Chinese companies in reviving every sector of the economy with their latest science and technology.

3. Poor security welfare.

Solution: pay armsmen handsomely. Reward them for every good job. Protect their integrity and image. Corruption will wither drastically.

4. Immunity for the powerful.

Solution: no one should be above the law. Punish all criminals and corrupt leaders.

5. Bigotry. Nepotism. Incompetence.

Solution: leadership roles should only be assigned to those with solid track records.

Our democratic system should be based on meritocracy rather than mere "government for the people, by the people, and of the people".

Thanks.

I knew this kind of comment would be made. He's an author and what he wrote is his and can be used in a book, if he feels like. If you copy it and use it as yours in a post, he can sue you and will win.

This is the reason I didn't want to add money to it because it made some people (with ego and pride) not to comment to avoid looking as if they're hungry for 5k.

Most people that commented don't even care about the money — they're just people that have something to say.

So, please, stop this attitude. If people steal your 5k SIM card, pot of soup, or anything worth 5k from your shop, the same you won't take it lightly.

If you're driving on the road and a police man asks you for 5k to his family, you'll mostly not give. If you send a women 5k transport to visit you and she collected but refused to come, you'll understand how painful losing 5k is even though it's small.

Oh, by the way, I need 5k card on this my business line: WhatsApp/Telegram Only: 09060760264.

God will bless you abundantly as you do. I'll alert everyone when you send it. I know it's too small for you. If you want to send more, I'll still accept, but let's start with 5k, sir.

When you understand that people like us are genuinely interested in becoming that change and that we are born writers, then you will learn to shut up and stop projecting your reality on others. The fact that you can't transform your thoughts into words effortlessly within a short period of time doesn't mean others can't. Even if it's because of any prize, just shut up and mind your business.
