An internal auditor of American International School in Abuja told the Federal High Court in Abuja that former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, paid his children’s school fees up until graduation in dollars

Bello is being prosecuted by the EFCC, which has accused him of paying $760,000 in advance for his children’s school fees shortly before leaving office.

The witness, Nicholas Ojehomon, revealed this to the court on Thursday.

Ojehomon told the court that he did not know Yahya Bello personally at the time but was aware that he was a parent who had enrolled four of his children in the school.

He identified the former governor’s children who were enrolled in the school as Zayan Bello, Zara Bello, Farid Bello, Na’ima Bello, and Nana Fatima Bello.

He told the court that the former governor paid $90,074 for Farid Bello, $87,470 for Zara Bello, $26,241 for Na’ima Bello, and $18,707 for Nana Bello.

“Mr Ali Bello ed the American International School, Abuja, on Friday, August 13, requesting to pay the Bello children’s school fees until they graduate. The school management accepted his offer,” said Ojehomon.

He tendered the agreement for prepaid tuition fees to the court, which, upon examination, confirmed that Ali Bello, Yahaya Bello’s cousin, had ed the school in 2021 to pay the children’s fees in advance until their graduation.

The prosecution counsel, Kemi Pinheiro SAN, also tendered some documents, including email correspondences between Ali Bello, Yahaya Bello’s cousin, and the school, statements of from TD Bank USA and the American International School, certified copies of the AISA ission letters to the defendant’s children, a contractual agreement for prepaid tuition until graduation and teller copies of payments to the court.

The court has itted these documents as exhibits.

The school requested a valid number from the EFCC to refund the fees. The refund is to be made in a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) .

State's Wealth being squandered by one family. Until we a law giving the death penalty for corruption by political office holders, and ensure it's enforcement; this brazen madness will continue to be emboldened.

Even in America, nobody pays school fees in advance rather they collect student loans. That school is just there for money laundering

He is afraid of future poverty. That mentality stays forever once you come from a poor background.

Can a politician in the West do such thing in their own country? No because laws won't allow it. Yahya belloe is a PEP. Due diligence should have been done before accepting such amount. The school needs to return the money and be sanctioned cos they can't do such in America.

Still doesn't guarantee the future of those children. The seeds of greed he is sowing into their lives will eventually be harvested in different forms beyond his imagination or what he can prepare for. Foolish human being.

If you check how impoverished that kogi is, very backwards state, and someone is churning out obscene amounts that can change someone's life on the education of some privileged children who might be dumb, meanwhile the regular poor man's child who's insanely brilliant is at home because he doesn't have 20k# for school fee, what a country.

The school is equally corrupt and should be prosecuted. Across the world, there are laws governing relationships with politically exposed persons (peps) and politically influential persons(pips). Every entity in Naija, as it stands, is an enabler of corruption and treasury looting.

Read again or watch the video again. He said if not prosecuted. He doesn’t have the power to jail him, court makes that decision. And I think he is already prosecuting him. Let’s stick to the story pls.
