The Bauchi State government, through the Ministry of Education, has announced the closure of all schools in the state in preparation for the five-week-long 2025 Ramadan fast.

The announcement is contained in the approved school calendar for the 2024-2025 academic session in the state.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Bauchi on Friday, the Information Officer, Ministry of Education, Mr Jalaludeen Maina, said the holiday had already been incorporated in the calendar long before now.

He explained that the closure would take effect from March 1 to April 5.

Maina said the closure affected all the institutions of learning, which includes all public and private primary, Junior and secondary schools, as well as higher institutions of learning in the state.

Yes, we are closing all our schools and this is included in our 2024-2025 approved calendar for the academic session that our students are not going to do the Ramadan fasting while in school.

The five-week holiday is for Ramadan fasting, and immediately after the fasting, they will resume and continue with their academics

Absurdity!
This is unbelievable, in a region that is already plagued with out of school children crisis. This is like validating and further ing some of the northerners' dislike for western education.

Nothing stops students from learning after sarr, at best, you shift resumption time upward and not total shutdown of learning.

How on earth can you place religion ahead of learning? How can you develop or compete internationally with this mediocre system?

I am seriously angry.

No be this same Bala Mohammed wey force himself into enmity with Wike and Tinubu? grin Like say him dey same level with them. Lmaoooooooo!

And he's also the Chairman of PDP governors forum cheesy Kai! Some people no just sabi their mates for this life. Bala just dey do bala-bala. Tueh!

While smart folks are getting concerned that Nigeria is getting left behind in the world of technology, science, and innovation with the massive advancement in AI on the global stage, some useless governor is declaring not one, not two, but five massive weeks in all schools because of Ramadan. cheesy Saudi wey get the religion self no dey declare nonsense holiday. Walahi, this is absurd!

If to say na where every state dey earn dem dey chop, all this nonsense won't be happening. No wonder they opposed the Tax Reform Bill. Lmaoo

This is Saudi oooo
There are five official public holidays in Saudi Arabia. The most widely celebrated one is Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan.

You're very right, islam rocks. That's why Maiduguri was rocked by a suicide bomb some weeks ago. The suicide bomber was a member of the Islamic State (IS).

Anyway, which one concern me? While you are fasting, I will be chopping and cleaning mouth

Western Education is Haram.

At the right time, they will use the lopsided political structure to decide who presides over Nigeria.
These northern people are supposed to be having their own Islamic Republic of Arewa but sweet crude from the Niger delta region wouldn't allow them get their own religious country.

I hope they will ALLOW YORÙBÁ PEOPLE to also look at the moon rather than dictating to them when to start and end fasting.

Africa needs grow past religious brouhaha.

Africa needs to go work, invest in science and technology not in prayer houses. RELIGION IS THE LAST THING AFRICA NEEDED RIGHT NOW.

Even Saudi Arabia, the Holy Land, does not close schools during Ramadan. Where did Bauchi learn this one from?

Tomorrow the Idiot governor will be jumping Upandan the country saying he wants to be president under PDP. Useless man. Bauchi has sizeable indigenous Christian population enough to earn the seat of deputy governor. Yet you want 40% of children population of the state to lazy around for 5 weeks because Muslims ☪️ wanna FAST...

Bala Mohammed is a highly educated man that knows about development, economy & productivity.

The imported Arabic religion is now gradually affecting his Medulla Oblongata. He forgot there are millions of Productive Christians & Traditionalist in Bauchi State.

If fasting will make students weak during lecture, why not make them close by 12pm or attend School 3 times weekly as they did during Covid19.
