For me, where i will be picking up the port is another thing. OIS or DHL? Cos it was DHL i selected when i started the process with the old portal. No instructions on this from them yet.

I have also created tickets through ‘’ on AVITS. The response was that i have to wait until my appointment is tagged as 221g before i can reschedule.

If she is going visiting, she does not need medicals.

She should get ready for questions such as:
1. the address she is going in the US and who she is visiting (eg if she will be accommodated by loved ones)
2. how long she is going to spend in the US and her exact departure date
3. what activities she has planned while visiting

Eg I will be visiting my eldest daughter in Boston and spending 3 weeks with her. She intends to show me around her city and some popular tourists sites such as....
As much as possible, make sure her story tallies with what was in her application.

She should have the following ready, though they may not be requested for inspection:
1. Her return ticket
2. Proof of funds

These can be in electronic format eg flight ticket on her phone, a loaded bank card.

She will also complete a declaration form asking her to declare the amount of cash she is carrying (if it is above 10000USD) and if she is carrying agricultural produce. To avoid headaches, check for prohibited items eg beef products like pomo and she shouldn't bother carrying them.

Finally, a great tip- whenever she lands, right at the airport, she can connect to free wifi to keep in touch with whoever is picking her up from the airport.

There goes the answer to your question . You have to let them know why you went to the US 4 times in 11months. Go with proof and say it as you have stated it here. A man was also given 221G. He was asked why he was in the USA for 3 months twice in 1 year. That is a total of 6months in just one year and he claimed he had a good job here in Nigeria.

It took 4 days for it to change to approved after submission. Submitted Tuesday and it was approved the next Monday.

Yes, this February. Maybe they received a lot of applications last week. It may change tomorrow evening .

I don't know if this information would be useful to anyone here.

I relocated to the UK in 2023. My last US visa expired in March 2024; it was issued in Lagos in 2022.

At a point, I was considering visiting Nigeria for renewal through the Dropbox, but I never had enough time to make the trip.

So, I decided to make a new application for the renewal here in the UK and go for the interview.

Surprisingly, when I was making the appointment for interview, the system informed me that I qualified for interview waiver and I should send my port through courier, which I did.

M visa was approved, and I got my 5 years validity.

Have you attempted to cancel the appointment? Since you said you have not paid, you can click on the option to cancel appointment. Note, this does not apply if you have paid the MRV fee because whenever you cancel a pending appointment request, you forfeit any MRV fee you may have paid.

If that does not work, you can use your AVITS profile to book their appointment.

To use your own profile, click on "create new appointment" and when you get to the question of "relationship to applicant", you have the following options: Self/Spouse/Child/Parent/Group Member

Simply choose "parent". Then go ahead to fill their details individually and make corresponding payment. to use all details associated with your parents i.e. when filling personal details just before payment, use your parents' email and phone number not yours.

Alternatively, you can create a new profile using any other mail your parents have and proceed from there.

I followed the advice shared regarding rescheduling a group appointment. The good news is I was able to pick the same day for both mom and dad , bad news is the appointment time is 30mins apart . I think 7.30am for one and 8.00am for the other.

Is there anyway this can be combined on the day of the appointment or will they have to be interviewed separately 30mins after each other?

I don't think this really matters. Someone's appointment was 8:30am and she was done at the embassy before 8:30am in Lagos. They should be able to go in at the same time from my experience this year.

They can both go in at the same time. They should just indicate at the gate that they are a couple and it's a group appointment.
Mine was scheduled for 7am but my coconut head no gree enter after my documents were scanned till I felt a nudge in my spirit around noon. I just wanted the crowd to disperse a bit so I waited, and I saw other people waiting for their family to them too. So your parents will be fine.

Dates are available in Abuja and Lagos on AVITS at the moment note Lagos is 2026 while Abuja is from August 2025

I doubt that paying a new MRV fee will do you much good with getting dates. For physical interviews in Lagos, the earliest date is Feb 2026. This has been a pattern since last month (January 2025).

I am assuming your dad has not paid. If that is so, click on cancel appointment request and you will be able to create a new appointment. If he has paid and you cancel, you will forfeit the money paid.

Did you track after you submitted last week and did it at any time move from application received to issued? If yes, then I would assume the info on OIS is correct. If you are not in a hurry to collect your port, I would recommend you give it some days.

You will most likely get a paper for physical interview. Most times the portal reads refused for one reason or the other. You will see it in the paper given to you during pick up. They will ask about your trips.

Ok, mine has changed to approved, with some long grammar about consular office reviewing again and cancelling if necessary - is that the normal message that accompanies approved?.

How long did yours take from approved to issued, then available at OIS for collection?

please how can i generate waybill on OIS website. the location is Ibadan and we paid of 58k to drop of there. on getting there, they are asking for waybill but i can't seem to know how to do this. all i see on the site is to print the acknowledgement slip.
