I just canโ€™t understand why some of our institutions fail to protect us. In late December 2024, I mistakenly transferred money to the wrong bank belonging to one Obi Ikechukwu Marcel. I reported the incident to @ProvidusBank, the bank I made the transfer from, and they directed me to @myAccessBank, the recipientโ€™s bank.

At Access Bank, they ed Mr. Ikechukwu, who confirmed receiving the money but was unwilling to return it. When the bank representative informed him that his would be flagged to prevent him from any further transactions, he then asked for some time to decide. However, after a week, when they tried to reach him again, he stopped answering calls. Eventually, Access Bank restricted his , yet they told me there was nothing more they could do unless I obtained a court order.

To my shock, when I went to the court to obtain the order, I was told that I had to pay 20% of the disputed amount upfront before they would proceed with the process.

Honestly, this experience has left me deeply frustrated. How can a system that should protect us instead make us so vulnerable?

This is not just about my case, it is about the lack of institutional that allows injustice to thrive.

It is not Obi that should send back the money to you. Your bank and the receipient bank should collobarate to do the reversal.

Where was your mind when the name of the receipient was displayed?

Btw, how much is it? Why is he hiding the amount he sent?

The money is most probably the proceed of corruption

Obi is right to hold on to it

He should see it as his share of the national cake sent to him from above

imagine banks holding onto all money they suspect is dubious?

Liar.

No court in Nigeria collects a percentage of the disputed fund before issuing a court order.

This guy is a lying demon, APC criminals. Lying is their hobby.

Court order is more like a court case, which Magistrate or Judge asks for percentage of the disputed fund before going on to issue a judgment?

This APC criminal must have gone to a road side business center to collect a fake court order and they asked him for a percentage.

Let him tell Nigerians the particular court that asked him for a percentage of the disputed fund before going on with the case; lying criminal Bashir Ahmad angry

Its either they are operating a criminality based law in the North or this APC thief is lying for clout and to defame the name Obi and the Igbo tribe.

Let me educate Nigerians on what court order is.

First, you cannot walk into any Nigerian court to obtain a court order because you are not a lawyer and without following court filing process. You can only get court order through a lawyer because court order is the same thing as suing someone to obtain court judgment. Court order is court judgment on a matter, and it take nothing less than one month plus if followed legally and legitimately because the court must sit for at least 3 times before the Magistrate will issue the court order which is the final judgment. Court must sit to hear from the parties involved; Bashir Ahmad, the said Obi he transferred money to, and the receiver's bank. Court will serve them to invite them to the court hearings.

Court order is not an affidavit that you walk into a court to pay money and obtain immediately.

The same process involved in filing a court case is the same process involved in obtaining a court order because it's a court case.

The court will serve the bank of the person he mistakenly transferred the money to and also serve the person he mistakenly transferred the money to through the person's bank that have his details to come to the court and hear the case and answer for himself in case he did a business with Bashir Ahmad that warranted him making the transfer only to turn around to start asking the bank to reverse the transfer, this is possible, that is why court order is a long court process that involves inviting both the bank and the fund receiver to the court to answer for themselves before the final court judgment known as court order is issued.

Obi is not wrong

How is he sure Bashir is not a scammer working in cohorts with an unscrupulous bank staff to steal money off innocent depositors through his ?

Obi become liable once he does that transfer for whatever happens afterwards

You have no idea how he got the money either but you're eager to defend him

Banks have a responsibility under our laws to reject every suspicious transaction and report or NFIU

With the character and personality of the complainant, I think a screenshot of the transaction and communication with the bank (if it was via chat) would have given this a certain degree of authenticity.

They do anything for clout these days.

He isn't even aware.

Most courts up north charge between 10-20% of the disputed funds. While in the case of probate order/deceased , aside the fees pay for the letter of istration the court will still take their cut before distributing the money to the heirs of the deceased.

There's a caveat to presenting a court order to a Nigeria commercial bank, the court order doesn't guaranteed if one funds would be reversed bank if the beneficiary have already made use of the said funds, the least the bank would do is either to lien such sums for a maximum of two weeks (in extreme cases, PND might be sustained but this doesn't happen everyday). In the event that the beneficiary didn't fund the with the disputed funds after two weeks, it's back to basic for the sender.

The system ain't straightforward as many think.

I had similar experience last year, mistakenly sent 10k to someone in the north, from my zenith to his access . Till date, both zenith and access could not do anything reasonable as per retrieval..

The above and other similar experience made me conclude that in Nigeria, try not to lose anything (especially money). Lose it and then you would realize how useless all the sectors are, especially security and finance sectors...
