Hello,

My parents have their visa appointments later this month, on the same day (one regular interview and the other Dropbox). Can my parent going for the interview drop-off the documents for my other parent?

My dad’s visa was approved in Abuja. In the forms, I indicated that I was sponsoring him and I put my address as where he would be staying, also my dad is widowed. Here’s the questions he was asked.

VO: Where are you going to?
Dad: I am going to (*insert a US state*) to visit my last daughter

VO: Do you have other children?
Dad: I have two others, one works in Abuja and she brought me here and the other works in (*inserts another Nigerian state*)

VO: have you travelled out before
Dad: Yes, I’ve been to and the UK (note: I wrote no in his form because these travels were not in the last 5years) but the VO didn’t ask if it was in the last 5years

VO: when did you travel to those places
Dad: in the late 1980s and early 1990s

VO: I will be approving your visa.

His visa was approved on a Thursday, it changed to issued on Friday and when I checked on Monday on the OIS platform, his port was ready for pickup.

Congratulations
When tracking the port status on OIS website what option did you choose US VISA right?

Hello everyone,

So I came here to give some POE information.

So I travelled to Texas on Monday from Lagos through Doha.
I will suggest that you travel light and make sure you state categorically the food stuffs you are carrying along- ask around for what is allowed.

I didnt carry any food stuff because i prefer to cargo them out to US using a cargo company- easy and fast- anf i didnt want village people to get me.

Every Nigerian and some African were pulled off the line for a second inspection even when I stated I had no food stuff in my bag.

One of the officer was joking and saying Nigerians like to carry Egusi and Ogbono when coming into US.

Thankfully I got my bag fast and was able to meet with my conmecting flight to Dallas from Houston. Eventhough the bag was tagged from lagos straight to Dallas.

And yes it was a scanned second inspection.

So my advice is travel light probably with just clothes and send your food stuffs via cargo to US.

Enjoy your day guys.

Good morning. I don't think there has been any 'official' confirmation yet from the US embassy regarding the drop box issue. I suggest that since you already have a date, you should go to the OIS office on that day and hear from the horses mouth. Please keep us posted on the out come.

All the best!

Have you tried ing on Avtis platform? You may have been migrated and you are not aware of it.
That was the case with my son’s visa renewal. We had paid in June 2024 for IW ( 17th December 2024) since we had printed out all documents we did not bother going to check out the new platform ; it was on the day of submission at Pope John Paul Crescent, Abuja that we got to know that we had been migrated to Avtis platform ; this was because we were asked to present the appointment letter that had Avtis logo and not the old one we had.

2. For a 7am appointment I would suggest you get there by 6:45am. If it is Abuja embassy the security men there are quite courteous the can show you were to lean on while waiting for the embassy to open for the business of the day

All scheduled interviews still suffice, same for those who have dropped already. New drop box interviews cannot be scheduled for now.

Hello, is there anyone who qualified for IW but could only for consulate interview? Were you able to sort it out without repaying another fee? Also for those who needed up going for the consulate interview, were you interviewed or asked to go and do drop box . Thank you 🙏🏼

personally, I believe people may be likely answering wrongly some of the questions that determine if one is qualified for IW, some of the questions are crafted somewhat, so if you don't think it tru properly, you may choose an IW disqualifying answer......the system is very straight forward
