Hey guys, I participated in the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon 2025 and finished 38th in the 10KM race! That means I left over 20,000 runners behind! It was tough, but I ran the entire 10KM without stopping or even drinking water at the water stations!

We kicked off at Grace Garden Event Centre, Lekki Phase 1, at 9:30 AM, running all the way to Eko Atlantic. The energy was crazy, and the competition was fierce!

The event had a massive turnout, with runners from all over the world—Americans, Chinese (plenty of them), East Africans, UK, Sudan, Australia, and more!

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was also present. He even jogged about 1KM from the Eko Atlantic City gate to the stage. The atmosphere was electrifying!

As expected, the 42KM race was dominated by Kenyans and Ethiopians, with the winner taking home $50,000! Almost all the top 10 in the full marathon came from these long-distance giants.

To keep the vibes high, A-list gospel artist Bidemi Olaoba performed live. The event was also graced by top officials from Access Bank, 7UP, Kia Motors, and Lagos State Government.

Big shoutout to 7UP for keeping everyone hydrated—they provided water throughout the race. (Not that I needed it! 😆)

This isn’t my first major race—I was also at the Abuja International Marathon 2023, but this one was on another level! The , the competition, and the overall experience made it unforgettable.

See the pictures below.

Anyone else here ran or attended? Let’s talk about it!

True, bro! But if running was about body size, all skeletons would be marathon champions. 😆🏃🏾‍♂️

You really tried.

Nigerians who can have a shot at finishing top 10 in the Lagos Marathon are those from Plateau/Taraba states and also raised there.

But born, raised and training in Lagos, your chances of ever winning the marathon is -1000%.😂😂😂

As always, Kenyans and Somalians still keep winning it...!

Those guys train for marathons as a way of life... It's practically their culture.

Marathon is something else.
I participated in 2023 delta state peace marathon in warri. When i got to the finish-line, i saw a lady who already first me to reach the stoppage arena. I was bewildered. How did it happen!
