I agree, it is not every battle to fight. I say it was largely communication issues between both parties. While the lecturer demanded video being deleted, if the video was important to her and not wanting it deleted, she could have told him she'd edit it, and if not , actually deleted it. There's no reason to pick fights when there's no need.

However, as the situation has come to this, based on my experience with cases of abuse and getting court justices for damages, if I was her lawyer, I'm not a lawyer, I'd put the below.

This is a university. People are there to get their degree, and the lecturers and uni staff are regarded as being in loco parentis.

It is not fair, but then again, there are reasons why a student attacking a teacher is considered wrong...if the student was let off, it would lead to disresepect of lecturers.

Now, some lecturers are proud and some deserve student's disrespect...but if disrespect becomes a widespread thing, students won't learn, and the whole purpose of going to uni would be defeated.

In life, a lot of things are not fair. It is illegal to fight back against a policeman, even if he is beating you up, because unfortunately if the law criminalizing assault against policemen was removed, anarchy would result, and the bad guys will take action.

The girl has forgotten why she is in school. To learn character, not just book. To learn that tomorrow, when you are working , and some customer comes in to abuse you, you hold your cool, and be polite. And use the offical means to get redress...(in the university, it is the dean of student affairs). TO learn that there is hierarchy in this world. (right now, my immediate superior is someone who is younger than me, both in age and in time working here. I still call him sir. ..BECAUSE...that is the way of the world. Na my oga, not my MATE. Logically it is not fair, but if we started doing anyhow, our organisation won't get any work done!).

Simple adivce if you are in university....keep your head down, your mouth shut, and graduate. Don't drag things with any lecturer. You may learn patience and coolness under adversity. You may learn not to let people's actions affect your mind too much...because if that girl had not opened her big mouth to say 'WHO IS HE'...she would still be in school.
