3 years wasted. If only she ignored and say "sorry sir". Lecturers loves to be respected, some love to be worshipped like one minigod. I also fault the lecturer for trying to seize her phone.

OMEGA009: The problem with your analysis is that you don't know why people go to school School is not just to give you degree...it is also to prepare you for the real world, where keeping a cool head under pressure , and also being as polite as possible sometimes are very useful skills to acquirre. The grl did not keep a cool head under pressure. She 1) abused the lecturer verbally 2) made her case worse by laying her hands on the lecturer 3) refused to even listen to what the lecturer wanted. Yes, we can say the lecturer too has issues with ignoring comments (he could have walked away)...but the problem with that is that the girl would have basically ended up thinking that she could be rude to her lecturers and that could lead to learning being impacted. If people do not respect lecturers and authorites in university, at the end learning is going to be difficult. Just as there are laws to protect the police from assault (unfair, but at the end of the day, if people could assault the police man or woman anyhow...next thing it would be anarchy unlimited, and you won't want that)...and just as FIFA always insits the referee is right, even when wrong....in the university, the lecturer is always right. When I was a student, I was shouted at by two different lecturers, under two different scenairos. I was also yelled at by another lecturer and punished with an 'unreasonable' assignment for something that I definetly DID NOT DO. I did not respond by fighting with them, or by calling them stupid people. And the fact is the university I attended, my parents had both been lecturers at the same university until they resigned due to changing jobs. Even then, my dad in particular, was still respected. I could have leveraged on my dad's name, and behaved like that girl (and I have a very vile temper...that can even lead me even now to say things that I would regret later)....but I was calm, apologised, and that was that. BY the time I left that university...I was on good with all three lecturers. (one of them it turned out had met my dad in the past...he did not know I was his son, and he didn't know my dad before). And I left with my degree. IN peace. Make we no justfiy anger. And if there is injustice, that is why we have student unions. 16 Likes 2 Shares |

The lecturer applied wisdom by not beating her up. The headline would have been "Unizlk lecturer beat up a female student" and the lecturer would have been suspended.

I hope this can be appealed for the sake of the parents. Logically, she deserves it, but since this is her first misbehavior, they should serve justice with leniency 1 Like |

BABANGBALI:Example of misogynists that the society should purge itself of. So, you didn't see the lady as a human being first, but a woman hence calling me woman wrapper. I fear for you. And I wish the lady would be surrounded by sane people going forward, not some lecturer that wouldn't think twice to push her aside. 1 Like 1 Share |

It's possible this girl was on hard drugs. We are currently in a drug epidemic. There is hardly any youth u see these days not doing drugs. 1 Like |

BloomingDale: It's not a woman vs man thing...it is more like the woman did not keep cool. Note that if she had been rude to a female lecturer or the genders were reversed, the outcome would have been the same. (I grew up as the child of lecturers, and in a university environment, and I heard stories. ). 3 Likes |

brain54: More likely drugs. U will never understand the times we're in till u understand what drugs are doing to the youth in this country. These days I see anyone who acts contrary to normalcy as being under the influence of drugs.... Or alcohol |

SUPERPACK:It is not entirely justified, but as she said, she was under duress with someone coercing her to act against her wish in a heated manner. Condemning the acts of the lecturer would have been better and disciplining the lady for assault, not this public statement.. |
